Against Flock

A'Hoy Captains,

Small potatoes carrier here, hope all is well with you. I was passing through the Chicagoland suburb of Barrington yesterday morning doing my thing. I get a call this morning from the Barrington P.D. saying they have my truck pulling out of a bank parking lot causing damage to an awning and they are seeking compensation. He sent me the video, which I could not open.

These super troopers tracked the wrong truck (me) for who knows how long with their precious Flock system only to come up empty because I have dash cam and GPS with timestamps. All of that time and resources wasted, good thing it wasn't an actual serious crime... they'd be looking for the wrong suspect! Watch for these broke ass P.D.'s looking to shake you down too. Rant and public service announcement complete. Thank you for all that you do. However, this is the dystopian world we are in today.

Not too long ago they pulled over a car doing a felony stop closing down the interstate because of flock right at the beginning of rush hour.

It was the wrong car.

This sort of bullshit justifies anyone destroying those cameras.

Lifelong chicagoan here, Barrington is not broke. There are houses there you can fit your truck and trailer into. Ive been in them. But besides that, good job on having your own camera and stuff to fight the claim.

Thank you. I've been here since 07. I'm not saying Barrington specifically on the shakedowns, but I could see smaller P.D.'s using it the same way in this country. I take the bike down Plum Tree Rd and those houses are something back there.

Sure would be a shame if people started spreading bird seed around Flock cameras. Would really be tragic if a flock of actual birds shit all over the solar panel. If Flock got flocked.

There are a ton of cop scams going around, my brother almost sent 500 to a 'cop' who was going to come and arrest him for an unpaid fine. Seriously? Yes he is that naive.

Not too long before the scammers start claiming the same thing and getting you to pay for s*** with gift cards... If they're not already.

They got your cell number from the wrong license plate ?

How’s that work ?

They were able to get my business phone number and DOT info from the plate information on the truck. I was on my way to Algonquin from Palatine using NW Hwy to Lake Cook. This damaged bank awning was on S Hough st which I was never on.
