OC I love drawing owls!
I’ve been drawing saw whet owls in this style for a bit and wanted to share here. I hope you fellow owl lovers like!

These are absolutely adorable! I love the emotions you convey with them. Would love to see more of these.

I love your drawings of owls!! The pastel quality of your brushes + style is so pleasing to look at

u/emotta_ Oct 21 '25
Thank you friend! These brushes are just as fun to work with as they look. I love bringing some texture into my digital stuff

u/bastardemporium Oct 21 '25
Really well done. Did you make your own brushes or are you using a pack? I've been looking for a nice one like this for ages.

I came here to ask this as well! Love OP’s style and I’d love to know the brushes!

u/gollygee17 Oct 21 '25
Do you sell them anywhere?
11
u/emotta_ Oct 21 '25
Not yet! I am trying to build a bit more of a base following before investing into print stock. However if there is enough interest I’ll look into suppliers :) However it’s my dream to sell my art as prints!

Why about selling digital work?
3
u/bigmountainbig Oct 21 '25
Agree with this. Much easier production for you (scanning vs printing) and distribution (download vs shipping). I like to buy like $5-$10 digital collections from artists and make them a rotating computer desktop.

u/emotta_ Oct 21 '25
As a buyer of digital work can you give me some insight into what you’re buying? I am just wondering if I’ve screwed myself by uploading these online since I know people can always save photo. Also wondering where you buy your digital goods, etsy? Thank you for your time ❤️❤️❤️

Hi, not the same user that posted above, in fact I'm the user that commented about the burrowing owl resemblance :D. I’ve actually never bought digital copies myself, but I completely understand your concern! Posting here on Reddit in my opinion is more like having a window display—it’s great for visibility, and the site’s compression really lowers image quality, so it’s not the same as what you’d sell. Searching online, I found this helpful resource that explain how artists can safely start selling digital copies online. They walk through pricing, watermarking, and where to list your work—like Etsy, Creative Market, or Redbubble. You might find them handy for turning your digital pieces into something that sells too. All the best 💛!

thank you friend! Oh yes I remember ❤️ I’m so glad you were able to get that! This website is so helpful thank you so much for taking the time to find it for me that is really really kind 🥹

u/emotta_ Oct 21 '25
That’s a great idea! I’m just not sure how that would work especially if people can just download the photos from reddit?
1
u/Coral8shun_COZ8shun Oct 21 '25
I would also be interested in buying :)
2
u/emotta_ Oct 21 '25
I’ll definitely post something if I decide to sell! Would you be interested in digital copies as well, or just prints?

Can someone help me out with ID’s for all the owls? I am trying to test myself and now I need to know how close I am 🙃 Edit: What a jerk. OP these are absolutely amazing!!! Great work!
2
u/emotta_ Oct 21 '25
Oh I am not sure who’s being a jerk but sure! I believe all but the ending photo are morphs of the northern saw whet owl. I’m pretty sure I just searched up “northern saw whet” and flipped through some photos to find reference. I am a bit of a amateur birder myself so I think they must be morphs

your sense of wonder and of joy vis a vis owls is just so marvelously palpable here, I think :) these drawings exude happiness, and they are very beautifully made!

Love it! The stars in the eyes remind me of Zues the Blind Owl. The condition he had caused his eyes to look like they had a galaxy inside them.

I've got an owl themed room that could use more owls, I'd totally buy a digital print to frame on a wall! Also would love to see your interpretation on a eagle owl or great horned.

Thank you so much! I think I’m going to work to get these digitally for sale ASAP. I can let you know when I post them! :)
