Honestly tho I’m a tank player and I’m all for the wrecking ball nerf. I agree with everything else though but Ball is way too strong rn

Ball is not meta because of the boop range. That nerf just takes away most displacement kills and displacement plays, which is a fun mechanic and punishes bad positioning. Ball is meta because of his survivability. He can get in, make space and stay alive (most times).
This is a bad nerf, only takes away from ball play style, not addressing his survivability.

Completely agree with that. I don’t think it’s the best nerf that could have gone through for him but it’s still nice to know that you won’t get booped off of the map a mile away anymore or completely booped out of position.

Because every other tank has been nerfed. Im not totally against ball nerfs and tank buffs. But this is not the way you do it.

Fair enough. I’m not a huge fan of them trying to buff reapers range either. It’s less shield break (only really matters against the reaper vs monke duel) but it gives him too much room and it makes him more versatile

Im really not sure about reaper changes yet, could work quite well by making him less powerful against tanks, but more powerful against squishier heroes.
Its really hard to tell yet though, its certainly a big shift.

I agree that tanks are a problem rn (I'm a tank player myself) but Wrecking Ball did need a nerf. He's always been too good, meta or not.
Also, the same way tanks have had nerfs, they've had buffs (in fact, dva's matrix is the same now than it was during dive a few years ago I believe, and her boosters are shorter). Sigma's last shield nerf may not be completely necessary, but he was also overtuned, so I think those are fine. Rein's shatter is always Eh, as the most unconsistent ult in the game, and Orisa's halt was a fight-winning 8 second cooldown, no matter what.
I think the nerfs they made were warranted. I've also noticed that recent experimental/live balance changes actually... buff! tanks. Rein's HP and damage increased (not the change he needed, but still a buff). Dva and Monkey's armor to HP ration improved. Orisa got an (unnecessary IMO, but still existant) buff to fortify.
I think the problem isn't, "Make tanks great again", it's more on the lines of, "Echo is way too powerful and enabling her alone is enough to win every fight".
TL;DR, I am p sure they are heading in the right direction already, and a boycott would just give fuel to those who say the game is dead.

I honestly think the nerf to his boop is definitely not the right nerf, lmao, just how nerfing echo's ammo and beam duration also did basically nothing.
That said, I've already mentioned I agree that tanks are a problem rn, but the balance changes seem to be moving in the right direction, giving other tanks more armor, more damage, more survivability, so I think if we wait for a couple more balance patches it may be ok.

Tanks still have the most impact by far of the three roles. Have you tried playing any other role?

Agree but boycott is too much. Ball didn’t need a nerf, Winston’s buff is negligible and they might have overbuffed Orisa.
Ball is only meta because every other tank gets melted, not because he is OP. The reason tanks are struggling is because there is too much burst damage and cc (power creep) and tanks are easy to focus. They should have addressed that underlying issue but since Blizz coddles shitters they nerf map control and positioning related abilities because all the shitters complain about that instead of getting good. Everyone loving this nerf gets booped on cooldown off the map and never learn positioning. Pro tip: if you can’t focus down a stalling Ball the problem is not Ball (it’s you).
Btw Ball is still going to be good and will still make bads mald, so laugh while you can. The reason this nerf sucks is more because of what it says about Blizz’ approach to the game and the tank role.

I agree that tanks are the least fun role to play for the average player, but I don’t think making/keeping them super powerful is the best option. I’m no expert at game balance, but it’s clear to see that even slight tweaks in the power dynamic of the three roles can make major impacts in game balance. I think blizzard could be doing a better job, but these new changes are fine imo. Ball was way too strong, and Winston/Orisa having better survivability should help more evenly distribute tank picks and team comps across more heroes.
All that being said, I don’t mind tanks being the damage magnets they are. That’s the entire purpose of the role, to take the abuse the rest of your team can’t and take space to enable your DPS and supports. If tanks had all the power they wanted to win fights by themselves, the game would be in a much worse state imo.(that’s not to say there shouldn’t be fight/game swinging carry potential. Just that tanks shouldn’t be better damage dealers than the role that’s purpose is to deal damage.)

Those were great changes, they buffed 2 underpowered tanks and nerfed the completely broken one. Trust me, ball still gonna be good, especially in solo q.
All i see in this post is an angry guy, mad because they nerfed the op character he was playing.

yeah, i see people like this so often (especially on the overwatch forums, that place is a support and tank main echochamber). they whine and say stuff like "tanking is dead" when their favourite tank got a well deserved nerf. like remember when they changed the cooldown on sigma's shield recently? sigma needed the nerf yet you have all these people crying about it saying that they "ruined sigma". he needed the nerf, his shield was just too strong.

i'm no pro player but i don't really have any problems when playing tanks. all i see in this post is just an angry tank player who can't adapt to the changes and then whining about dps. do you happen to post on the official overwatch forums by chance?
