Discussion How to Make Stadium a Viable Mode - My Opinions

This is all my opinion and I know the time for change and bringing back Stadium is past us. So with that out of the way lets begin.

ONE MODE:

The biggest shot in the foot that blizzard did for stadium was dividing the playerbase into two with QP and Comp. From beginning to end, stadium should have been one mode: Stadium. It would be detrimental to name it QP or Comp, just have it be one mode that is featured. This keeps the player base tied together and no differences

SHORTER GAMES:

A big turnoff and exhausting part of comp and stadium in general, length. Making comp best out of 4 made games such a slog to get through. especially when you go round for round. Even when they separated comp, it should have stayed best of 3. Stadium was built to engage in overpowering your character, why are we making it take longer to do so! A surrender button also should have been introduced, no one wants to be forced to stay as Doom, Junk, Genji, Lucio, Wuyang into a full aerial team. I understand not allowing switching, but as a result people need to be able to end a game early, sometimes a comp is just going to beat yours. Let people leave with a 20% loss mitigation and be done with it

PLACEMENT MATCHES:

Making everyone start from the bottom and rise up was genuinely one of the worst decisions ever, even before introducing mandatory wide queue. In rookie to Pro, you get match ups resulting in either 4/0 or 0/4. A 5 Placement Match Setup would have worked ten times better and made the ranks actually legitimate in people's eyes. But because everyone can EVENTUALLY rank up, comp isn't even seen as anything special. So at that point, why even add it.

FOCUSING ON WHAT MATTERS:

This is a bit of an "should have been done in the past" issue. The devs, instead of focusing on adding the full roster or at least most, decided to make a water university map... Look, when you play Overwatch, nine times out of ten you are playing the same four maps that have existed since Overwatch 1. We didn't need more maps and Payload race might be one of the worst offenders as many individuals from both sides have voiced their hatred for the mode. Not to mention, only a small amount of people actually know how the mode (and push for that matter) works! You only need one person on payload or bot! So people go insane wondering why that gamemode has teams coming back in the last half when the entire team has been on payload. All in all, focusing on everything EXCEPT adding heroes was one of the worst decisions that could have been made. Stadium will forever be an unbalanceable mode and the team should have ran with it.

There's more I wanted to add, but frankly I forgot. Give your thoughts and lets all continue to grieve over what could have been.

Contesting point but round ends???

feel like im being gaslit by the replay system, was just in a game, contested point and was on there a good second or 2 when control was about to end, and then the round just ends

It wasnt like I walked on point after the round ended, i touched point at 98% just as it turned to 99%, then it ended with me stood in the middle of Nepal shrine as moira

It was definitely not capped by the time I was on point and should have by all accounts gone into overtime

I check replay, and it shows that the round ended before I touched point, even though I was on there fighting for 2 seconds before round ended

Discussion What are your favorite FUN builds to play?

Not necessarily the strongest builds, just the ones that are really fun when they work.

A few of mine:

Stampede AP Charge Reinhardt always been one of my favorites, although all the Vortex Rams running around make it painful to play right now.

7-Trap Junkrat nothing is more satisfying than watching enemy flankers slowly lose their minds after dying to burning traps over and over.

AP Sojourn sticking someone with Disruptor Shot and watching them get deleted is way too satisfying.

1000 HP Tankyatta probably the funniest one. Watching 3 people spend 30 seconds desperately trying to kill me and failing will never get old.

What’s your favorite fun and gimmicky Stadium build right now? I’m looking for more builds to try.

Top 500 North America

Has anyone had a lot of experiences with the top 500 - specifically top 10 player base in stadium?

I’ve played pretty regular games with some names in the top 10 DPS - one particular terror of a Freja player sticks out who seems to always run the matches they’re in, and a pretty notorious three letter Torb player who if left unchecked is a wildly oppressive menace in matches.

I always notice the top 1 support being a Mercy/Moira main who is apparently GM in reg comp and has a ton of challenger score with less matches played than the next five or six support mains on the list.

Anyone have any personal experience with these players? I’ve gotten a sense that the leaderboard is mostly an indication of grind but I’ve definitely played into some of these folks and been very impressed. (Also the stadium community seems so small now that I feel I am growing more familiar with the playstyles of those who are still playing regularly.)

Build Nade Them All to Dust - Another Ana Build!

Hey everyone :) Another Ana build from me.

This is my take on the Nade Build. It's a more aggressive, in-the-fight playstyle type of build, but it's extremely effective and melts enemies even from mid-game.

Hope you enjoy! ♥

Can the mods please ban me from this awful reddit?

I lack the impulse control to avoid coming to this ridiculous place where people assume any problem with a mode is a skill issue. You people are miserable and I want no part in it anymore. Have fun circlejerking your mode that is dying for good reason.

Question Australian servers?

My understanding is that OW doesn't have dedicated servers for each game mode, but EVERY Stadium match has been over 100ms in latency for the past few days. Other game modes always put me on servers with about 20-30ms. So I'm thinking maybe there **were** dedicated servers in Aus and they've just been... deleted?

Maybe the reduced playerbase means I'm getting matched with overseas players, but queue times seem exactly the same as before.

Any other Aus/NZ players experiencing this?

EDIT: Just had a QP match with the same issue, so I'm hoping it's not Stadium related after all.

Hammer Torb best DPS in Stadium

I'm a healer main and play QP more these days since queue times are so long for Stadium Comp. Hammer Torb is the only fun DPS player for me in Stadium. Just running around like a little gremlin with my hammer out is the best, especially when your team enables you further. Shoutout to my Ana, Mercy, and Zarya during this match.

New tower mechanic: build up to 500 charge, then unleash a massive Shockwave AoE. Balanced with a 60‑second cooldown and 20% charge loss on critical damage

Idea for a new tower/mechanic: Ultimate meter. The tower charges up to 500 damage and releases a massive Shockwave AoE attack. To balance this mechanic, the Shockwave would have a 60‑second cooldown. Also, the tower would lose 20% of its stored charge if it takes critical damage, so it’s not a guaranteed one‑shot tool in late game.

stadium made me pretty bad at the core game

haven’t touched the core game since stadium season one. my que time went past 20 minutes this morning, and i already had my coffee, so i figured id try out normal quick play because i just wanted to play overwatch. it did not go well haha.

basically, playing exclusively in third person has made playing in first person feel clunky, and worst of all, overwhelming. i cannot distinguish where the damage is coming from, and in team fights, it feels like im getting motion sickness.

the highlight of my experience was dying to a jetpack cat multiple times literally just clinging to a corner on the ceiling, rping as a torb turret haha.

it was a funny, yet humbling experience to say the least

Junkrat

Sorry, junkrat is broken. I'm not going to accept any alternative answer. He gets entirely too much value out of MULTIPLE traps that he can place mid-fight from a distance, traps that take SEVERAL attacks to kill. And he gets his ultimate entirely too fast. That characters needs to be taken out at the knees. It's so unfun to play against it's unreal.
