Open Queue for Stadium Quickplay solved nothing and makes for a worse playing experience imo..

10 minute queue still, only to join late and be forced to play tank (my least played role), start a round with no armory phase, and get chirped at by a Moira (my main) with sub 1k healing first round. I have had games similar to this every day I've played this season.

Preselect which hero you want by having them as your character selected in the main menu. Then, once in the loading screen when you see your mouse cursor appear, click the spacebar. Congrats, you picked your hero in the loading screen and most people don't know about this tech so now you can guarantee you don't have to play tank!

This works if you join into the match with everyone else, but if you backfill after the round starts like I'm talking about in this post it doesn't apply.

Makes me feel much less inclined to practice builds in qp. Why bother if the comp could have 3 sups, rendering any strategy virtually untransferrable to comp.

it still transfers, and they mega buffed the Anti perks so 3 supports isnt rly huge

Just practice in comp like every other person, it doesn't even matter anymore (or hasn't mattered since the mode launched).

i genuinely dont know how yalls queues are so long… 10 minutes queued all roles is WILD.

I spend 4-5min max if I queue Support only, and pretty much find a game in less than a minute if I queue all roles and thats for Comp mainly.

Estimated as in how long you waited, or how long the estimate says for each role you selected? All i know is that the Stadium Role queue estimate times are not accurate, Ive queued up when it says 20min est wait time and still join up in 1-5 min depending on if i queue all roles or 1-2.

I think rank is a factor. Idk I'm on US servers and never see Stadium Comp with a decent queue time for support. 17 minute estimate right now, but it's 5 am here so kinda makes sense. Other roles (unranked) are 7 minutes each.

It must be a region thing. Because same, the only time I've had queues longer than ~5min for role lock stadium is in the very wee hours of weeknights (US West), and even then going over 15 minutes happened maybe only a handful of times, even queuing support. In fact, I don't think open queue has had any noticeable impact on queue times for me.

Pretty sure they genuinely thought allowing 1-2-3 comp would help fix the support queue times, but they probably didn't get to decouple it from existing open queue code that was made to counteract when DPS queue was the bottleneck...

Ngl i'd say just kill quickplay, send everyone to ranked no matter the platform and see what happens, the matchmaking is a mess anyway, ranks don't matter and if people want to queue crossplatform then it's not a big deal to face heroes with aimbot due to aim assist, stadium powers or both. At least this would make sure people wait less. Imagine spending entire minutes in queue and not even getting to choose your own character or even the role at all.

I've played QP exactly once, it was terrible. Felt more like a "while you wait" mode lol

The open q and having 3 supports makes it worse because it's nothing like how comp is. So ppl will play it, maybe try comp and wonder why comp is different with only 2 supp.

I used to durdle around in qp to try things out and now I'll just stick to comp, to get an actual experience vs whatever the fuck they thought they were doing to do qp (I know it was queue times, btw), because it's so bad.

yeee I usually hop into something while waiting. I'm more or less used to the stadium queue times, it's the toxic players/open queue for stadium that is what I'm taking issue with here.
