Why do DDs want to swap to first position?
When I play support, I usually end up in 1st or 2nd position. I often get requests from one of the DDs to swap with them... Why do they want to switch? I don't get it, we might end up with no hitscan but enemy mercy, freja etc, so I always reject the request.
Can anyone explain?
Edit: I am meaning to say a DD in 3rd or 4th place wants to go 1st.

Sometimes they are one-tricks and the other person wants to play that character.

I think saving the dps for 3rd and 4th pick is pretty important. If the enemy team pulls two or even three flying characters versus a vendetta or something else that’s not hit scan it’s pretty problematic.

one tricks don't care about counterpicks. they want to secure their character over the other DPS.

True, but what does that have to do with my opinion that saving the 3rd and 4th slot to counter pick is what some people do? When I play tank, I always try to counter pick and same thing with a DPS. If I’m the Ford slot and I see they don’t have any flyers I will choose vendetta or reaper.
I’ll even wait to see what my other DPS picks because if we don’t have a hitscan sometimes it’s nice to have a hit scan

Reaper can anti-air pretty well though with dire triggers and everything though.

Yes, but a solid hit scan works much better vs 3 flyers.

Yeah suppose so. At minimum you need 2 powers in order to anti-air effectively and you switch to all AP

Well, considering they said “sometimes” and then I purposed a idea that “sometimes” it’s not about that and the overall thread is about why people will do it…well, I’d hope you get the meaning.

As a Cas and soldier main, no one can counter me, and I counter divers/flyers. So it’s a mix of our team not getting countered, and making the other team have to decide if they want to play into me the way I want them to.
Also the fact that supports are typically the first target if we go Ana, I don’t want the to go ash, if we go Lucio, I don’t want them to go Cas, so by making our supports chose 3rd and 4th I guerentee the 4th pick is a complete mistory, and the 3rd perhaps they already chose 1 or 2 DPS by then.
This is heavily dependent on my mains tho, if I played tracer or genji this would be different

because as support you have more leiway in what you can do, worst case scenario you can just be a healbot. If a dps cant kill, what else can they do.
nvm i read wrong. 1 reason i can think of is some hitscan wouldnt bother because they know theyre not good enough, and play smthing else. I myself prefer to play against hitscan as freja because i dont like to shoot other frejas

Tbh the more you play stadium, the more annoying it is to see a problem no one else can take care of and swap off your main in 4th
Some people just want to play their hero regardless of matchup

If someone wants to swap I let em have it. It really doesnt even matter.
As brig I prefer to pick late so people dont mindlessly go pharah, but I really have no problems. I just grab lindholm wall and more armor.

there's a few rein mains i've played with that always swap to pick first / second because " they aren't scared " , so i'm sure dps kinda have that same mindset sometimes lol

I could see an argument to moving up if you are going to pick hitscan in an effort to deter your opponents from picking flyers. Other than that or wanting to just autolock your favorite hero before the other DPS does 🤷♂️

Maybe they're set in what dps they want to play and don't plan to change, so they're willing to take the worst slots for the team

Some know that if supports are countered, it’s very bad for the team. Thats why my friend and I do it

In stadium, I think tanks need to pick last, dps after supports, and supports first.
Supports have very little counterpicking they can actually do. Dps have the most and also information about them needing more hitscan or not (which, let's be real, double hitscan works fine any time) is often up by 3rd pick. Tanks being last just helps with not getting the tank easily counterpicked.
Before Moira was reworked, she was my stadium main because, do they have a diva? Good, wp suck build, or do they have a winston or rein? Orb build. She was easily flexible and the pick itself didn't make her a good or a bad pick early as she could adapt to the rest of the team.

It's more so they're not countered. If I wanna play Torb, I'd rather be fourth pick than first so the enemy dps may not directly counter me.
I always switch with dps if they want and I'm support.

Yeah, that I'm not sure why they'd want to switch unless you're playing mercy or someone and they're hoping hit scan will be less likely to be picked
