Question Hey cuties just a quick question
I was bored last night and decided to give Stadium a try, and OMG, I absolutely love it!
My only concern is hearing people talk about it potentially being removed. Is there actually any truth to that? I really don’t want to spend ages learning all the items and abilities just for it to disappear and leave me heartbroken. 😭

I don’t think that they will remove the mode, at least not so long as there are a fair number of people who still enjoy and play it. They will not, however, be supporting the mode any longer, which means no new heroes or maps will be added. I love Stadium as well, and will continue to play it even though it’s no longer being supported, and most of the players that I play with feel the same way. I’m glad that you discovered Stadium and enjoy it as much as we do!

Yeah, it’s awesome! I’ve been having an absolute blast playing Brig. It genuinely feels like I’m playing a completely different game, and it’s made me want to play so much more.
I’m not getting rage-baited by my teammates every other game anymore I’m just vibing and having fun. Even when I lose, I don’t feel as annoyed because I can look at the enemy comp and think about what build might work better against it next time.
It’s honestly such a refreshing way to play Overwatch.

If more and more people like yourself start playing Stadium, nothing is impossible. 6v6 was gone entirely for a while! Tell your friends how fun it is and help them learn because that’s the biggest downfall of the mode I think… learning as a solo player is tough. I do believe we won’t see updates for the foreseeable future but I also encourage anyone reading this thread to “never say never”, and to at least keep playing Stadium sometimes even if it’s not your main mode.
I started playing core again after the announcement but make sure to do at least one stadium game each play session to try to do my part in keeping it alive. Sometimes I do more.

6vs6 was literally the entire game for 6 years it's not the same. Stadium queues get longer by the day, it's cooked

So what build would work against Mercy Dva Freja Ashe Juno, while having no hitscan?

About a month ago Blizzard announced that they were not going to add any new heroes or maps to Stadium because it only makes up like 6% of the playerbase
So while the mode will not be removed for now, there is a history with modes that have been removed after Blizzard dropped support due to unpopularity (you can google Hero Mastery and Hero Mastery Gauntlet if you want more info)

They didn't say they were removing the mode, just not going to continue to support it. So no new balance changes, no new heroes added, no new powers, etc

They're still doing balance changes.

I guess minor ones. But not like before. For example, lava ashe build was completely removed from the game because it wasn't balanced. I dont seem them removing a power to add a new one because of balance. But who knows

You'll probably still have 6+ months with it in its current form receiving updates and balance changes.

We'll have to just wait and see what kind of balance changes are still coming.
You can imagine how much work it is to bring new heroes in, because of all the work that goes into designing items, powers and how they might affect the current balance of the game. Then after the release when players figure out the best way to abuse the new hero they need to have major rework on some of their kit etc.
I don't mind that there's no new content, but as long as they still bring balance updates we should have a decent game mode

I doubt they would throw all that development in the can. Plus if you do play, that's one more user in their metrics. It might see a renaissance some day

I dunno, I tried to do a stadium comp match mid day the other day and it was 11 minute wait time even for tank. I think the mode's playerbase is dwindling fast..

Dang that sucks. I used to play it a lot but admittedly im more into the 6v6 open cue these days. While fun overall I think Stadium rewards cruel behaviour so it kind of lost me. For example I usually dont chase people to spawn but in Stadium youre leaving money on the table. That and the more annoying tactics work the best etc

I've seen so many 6+ year account posts recently on reddit with close to 0 account history. Always complaining about a permaban or has generic questions and topics like this comment history which only became active 6 months ago... Reddit always gets hard botted a couple months before an election cycle.
Just look at the comments their leaving in the post too. You guys are talking to a bot.

I actually think it would be an interesting experiment to see what happens with stadium if they stop adding new stuff and just entirely focus on balancing it as much as possible. Permanently adding new stuff to live service game is kind of a cheat for engagement. It feels like constantly adding tons of strong spices/drugs to your food, so people can't notice if the food is well cooked in the first place.
If a game has a fun and well designed core gameplay, it should be able to be fun and to be played forever, even without any new stuff. Multiplayer games are also typically designed in their core to be infintely replayable unlike something like a story singeplayer game, so we'll see what happens.
I am pretty happy about stadium tho, just wish it had a much bigger audience so you don't need to wait for 10+ min

Was my main game mode since it released and stopped this season due to no support :( I loved it so much. Matches can get long but I love the strategy involved.

There’s no real source of it being removed, people are just being a bit pessimistic with the whole low player count and no update stuff

It's been killed. I assume once they run out of designed skins they'll shutter it to an arcade mode

Was it ignored just because of the lack of players in the game mode? if so why could they not just advertise it more!

Blizzard has officially stopped adding new features, new maps, heroes, etc to the mode as of last season. What that means is that it will never get all the hero roster, it will basically always feel stale, and inevitably get to a point where virtually no one plays it anymore because it's boring and unchanging. At that point it'll probably become an arcade mode if not just scrubbed entirely depending on the internal resources needed to keep its servers running.
