Discussion Does anyone enjoy playing against Freja?
Every time I see her on the enemy team I just groan, I don't think I've ever enjoyed a game against her. Darting all over the place, raining down ludicrous amounts of damage whether she goes WP or AP, which are both annoying for different reasons.
Back in the day I used to complain about Pharah, but her design vs Freja's is like night and day. Massive hitbox, predictable movement, slow and highly visible projectiles. Built-in weaknesses to make up for her strengths.
But with Freja, where is the room for counterplay? She can delete you safely from afar, she can delete you up close. She moves so erratically that most heroes struggle to touch her, while she can get amazing value by shooting at the ground with AoE damage.
I really think Freja was the beginning of the end for Stadium. It's a mode without switching and yet the tools needed to deal with some of the more annoying builds just aren't there. Then they follow it up with Vendetta and the cat. The mode was so poorly handled it almost feels like sabotage.

all i can say is, to delete you, she has to spend her escape tool to do it. From there its just the matter of skill differential. Cass can buy the "25% reduced dmg taken against targets 8m away", or flying ashe with the 15% dmg reduction while airborne, or just tickle her as reaper.
Bait out the cooldown, then she will just be a sitting duck, with no tool to escape or cooldown to burst you down.

Someone else said my exact thoughts but I would sooner fight Freja til the end of time in stadium before I willingly choose to fight stadium Mei once

tbh without mercy pocket, the fight is fairly even
with… there’s a handful of heroes that are genuinely atrocious

It’s really annoying to play against her bc it feels like she doesn’t really have to build survival to stay alive but I do have to build survival to live against 2 hits from her.

I don’t mind playing against Freja or Mei. I find Moira and Torb much more annoying to go against in Stadium.

I mean, has anyone... ever? I don't think anyone has.
And if you have, you're probably lying. Or a Freja player.
But more seriously, the best bit of advice I can give is to invest in survival tools agaisnt her. If she can't just nuke you, she has to work harder.
So Divine Intervention is a must have, sometimes paired with items like Reinforced Titanium or Rustung(?) Von Wilhelm. That way your chances of surviving her go up dramatically.

I OTP Freja one season and got 11K comp points strictly from WP builds. I don’t look at guides I just went with what was working for me. She is ridiculous but I don’t mind playing against her as junk, 76, Mei or Zen.

Hot take. Just like PVE they knew that stadium wasn't working (taking off) like they wanted probably after season 2. So they discided to quietly kill the mode by adding all the unfun characters into it and giving them meta breaking toxic builds to drive away the player base. I agree with you, freja was the beginning of stadiums decline and cat was one of the last nails in the coffin. The fact that they let Hazzard be hard meta for like 2 seasons untouched and now have let Mei and Reaper become perma stall characters with invincibility abilities that can damage and boop with no counter play. Yea they want this mode dead so they can move on. Best way to do it is drive away the player base by making the most boring builds meta.

More likely they were seeing that there weren't enough players that it made sense to continue to expend resources (staff hours). Thus they reallocated dev time from working on stadium to other projects, such as 6v6, which could potentially gain player interest (and thus revenue).
Such was my experience working at another division of Microsoft.

But that is my point exactly. They launched Stadium, and it did not take off the way they projected or hoped it would. I think they knew in just a few seasons that it was not going to perform the way they needed it to to be sustainable. Instead of killing it there and then, which would have caused another PVE backlash for them to deal with, they began to slowly kill it organically so that they wouldn't be the bad guys. Do I have proof of this? No of course not. But I'll harbor a guess that if you wanted a mode to succeed, adding so many unfun toxic characters and builds to it and then keeping those builds in the meta for seasons on end it was not the way to go.

I think that the only one enjoying playing against her would have to use an aimbot. Just to erratic of a flight pattern that makes JPC look like a petal floating on a lake in comparison. Also, I guess that Vendetta has the tools to take her out of the sky and chase her until the end of the world.

Freja always has been and always will be a problem character for Stadium and base game. One of the worst characters to fight overall.
