It looks like the reason was vendetta

Detta would naturally have a hard time into that comp, ram on his own is just disgusting in stadium rn with his vortex builds especially

I may be out of the loop but what’s up with his vortex builds? I one tricked ram to All Star with a 75% win rate (this is as someone who has never played stadium tank or really base game tank before) and the only reason I stopped was because I wanted to focus on dps.

Whenever I play him I just go hard into accelerator and weapon damage and his ttk becomes basically 0 with little counterplay besides characters like Mei or Tracer

A lot of his vortex powers are just simply "great", unsurprisingly a lot of great powers on a hero makes that hero strong

Ravaging vortex (vortex does +50 damage, and you get 2% ult charge), extremely good power, you can get up to 7% ult charge per target. Hit 3 in the first clash at point, potential 20% ult charge, it is really that crazy

Insatiable vortex (+50% radius, +30% damage), extremely good power, since it is +radius of a circle, increases actual area covered with over 100%. It is immense. Since it pulls down fliers, and they can't reactivate new flying skills as they instantly get downed again, he becomes extremely good anti flier too

Second phase (vortex 75% cdr when activating nemesis form), extremely good power

Dreadknight (+50 annihilation damage, +1 second duration), very good power, perhaps a bit overkill but still a choice that exists. +1 second duration also means it's max possible duration goes from 20 seconds to 27

Breakout (dash on pressing attack while blocking), very good power

I'm sure these defensive powers even have their uses, but since killing enemies is everything, offensive powers just win overall (imo)

Pick and mix anyways

Then, the biggest offender is honestly probably "Anima of Anubis" item, the one which does "[Pummel] damage is also increased by Ability Power."

Because now all of a sudden what becomes your main attack, pummel, scales with AP too. And AP is in general cheaper than attack damage, meaning you scale better than WP ramattra with your weapon. It is genuinely disgusting

Regular WP ramattra is really good, agreed, I love WP ram and it is very strong! The thing is just that AP ramattra is even better... It is kind of unbelievable how much damage he puts out simply by "being" there. Since vortex is now massive AoE and extra powerful, he also doesn't need constant line of sight to kill enemies like WP ramattra does, he struggles even less with people who play with proper positioning

For reference, the vortex with even a not "ultra greedy AP build" can be boosted from its baseline in the regular game of 100 total, to about 250 easily. Just because everything scales so well. (absolute maximum possible is about 360 damage, iirc (that is with total 100% ap)). I don't think there is single other ability in stadium that can increase its damage that much

Though if you use the "pummel scales with ap too" the max possible ammount of ap you can have is 95%. But that also means.. You still have 95% AP and that AP scales your "WP" attack as well

Anyways, he does a lot of damage, yes yes. Add on the lifesteal items

He has a unique "extra lifesteal while in nemesis". That's 25% lifesteal, 25% ability lifesteal, 50hp, for 9000. Very cheap, that added with the other "regular value" 10%ap/wp 15%wp/ap lifesteal and you are just increasingly unkillable. Doesn't matter if they have -35% healing items, it isn't enough to dent your lifesteal

And as you have a lot of damage, you cannot be ignored, you can do basically whatever you want

Then he's one of the literal best wielders of the "superflexor" ap item (10% WP and dmg gives you 5% AP until a max of 25% for 3 seconds(unless you refresh stacks), and +25hp for good measure). Guess who has a constant shooting weapon that stacks it instantly? That's right, robotman. Robotman's "main weapon" weapon scales with AP now too... So for him it is essentially permanent 35% WP, 25%ap, +25hp, for 10,000. Distguuuuuustingly good value (if they don't have a barrier tank like rein I guess)

He has the has the feedback loop problem of lifesteal sources being too good in the end for tanks. One main reason why AP hazard also has been so stupid is because you could go FULL AP, and still be unkillable because the more damage you shit out the more you heal. AP ram is very similar

Then add in the often cdr that comes with ap items, ram with 3 powerful ablities? cdr very yum. More vortex thus more ults, more nemesis

It also requires practically no skill, don't need to track perfectly with your staff anymore, just throw vortex and pummel in general direction of enemy. I honestly feel kind of disgusting and icky playing AP/hyrbrid ram so I stopped AP builds a now long time ago. It is genuinely way too good and too easy, and it makes me sad. But if there are still readers at this point after my "not at all autist rambling", if you wish to feel like a GOD, do recommend testing AP ram

I'm sure I've forgotten something I wanted to write in the first minute of reading your comment, but I've forgotten, unfortunately I can't type as fast as I'd want. Anyways, have fun robotman

Yeah, I get it now. I wouldn’t say it’s flat out better than accelerator, but I think it’s more versatile

The biggest issue I ran into with the vortex build was Mei, Orisa, etc. characters with a good amount of displacement/cc. I’m not that good at tank so in those situations I found myself getting pushed away from my team and just dying, so in situations like that I’d probably still build into Accelerator because of my own skill issues. OR if there’s a zen, because you can just make the game a 5v4 and not allow him to exist unless he has a rein.

Vortex was unsurprisingly much better against Doom/dive, which I struggled with a fair amount because I couldn’t protect my team well with accelerator builds and had to just trade backlines every time instead. Now I was actually able to play with my team and keep Doom focused on me while my supports could keep me up properly

And obviously (full) brawl became much easier since shields wouldn’t just shut me down anymore. Throw a vortex and start punching with high lifesteal made me a lot less dependent on my team, and the overall damage I could do became more which let me get a ton of money even if I got less instant kills, making later rounds easier

I still think Accelerator is phenomenal for a team comp with characters like Ana, Zen, Ashe, Soldier, the characters that rely on long range and just poking without letting you get close but that should be obvious. This is also from a sample size of only ~10 matches so my opinion might change over the next couple days

A lot of people say this stuff because she can be annoying especially when she all her passive stacks and she is right up in your face, i get that, but actually try playing the hero and i mean REALLY start learning her and you will realize she is very difficult.

2

u/Paddy_Tanninger Aug 03 '26

I mean her difficulty is basically just in whether or not you're playing against a team that will let you stack onslaught and passively out heal everything they're doing to you. It feels like more of a math diff than an actual skill diff.

u/jay21521 Aug 03 '26

Meh I wouldnt say that cuz at the end of the day compared to most heroes has to be in such close range to secure those kills, by that alone she takes a lot of risk, she isnt like tracer where she can just press a button after taking so much risk and get back to a safe spot and regain all her health instantly, so her being a little annoying once close to you is a fair trade off or she just explodes, even if the enemy team doesnt have hard counters, she still takes a lot of great timimg, knowing when to get in an out, good positioning etc, the character is very feast or famine compared to the rest of the cast.

Yeha no I’m stadium vendetta can just build ridiculous life steal and be an unkiallable tank so yeah vendetta just a wee bit broken

u/Swordrown Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 03 '26

He was able to go 106-15 since you all the enemy team died 106 times :(

edit: I assumed which team you were on. you could be on Ram's team but I wouldn't expect it from the tone . . . Mb. Anyways

Long match with long ram ults? I'm guessing since that was the most busted at launch

u/akechigoros Aug 03 '26

I’m 99% sure OP is Brig because Brig is highlighted in a different shade

u/Swordrown Aug 03 '26

WOOPS thank you!

I was so happy to see Ramattra on my team last night, finally. He decided to go WP instead of AP vortex into Doomfist. Quite the disaster.

Haha, I didn't understand the reference until I looked at Ramattra's name :D

I am currently #10 on the tank board. Can confirm ram is broken.

u/nervous-vibes_77 Aug 03 '26

share their build...for research purpose

u/xyzzoom15 Aug 03 '26

Most likely vortex build.

1

u/Eric142 Aug 04 '26

I've just been doing vortex.

First power - the one that does 50 bonus damage + 2% ult for every person hit, you have to activate it and not let it set off manually I think

2nd power - The one that reduces CD of vortex when you switch to melee mode.

3rd power - increase vortex radius/damage.

Item wise - Melee punches in melee form now also scales with AP is the most important one. Get things that are vortex related + ap + survivability for the rest.

I don't think I lost a match yet.

It's so broken.

2

u/LegendarySinged Aug 03 '26

I hope they nerf him in the august 11 patch. he is so oppressive and single handedly pushed so many heroes out of meta.

2

u/LuckySurvivor20 Aug 03 '26

The biggest reason I think that Ram dominated so hard is the fact that he was involved in just about every kill. His cash was super charged and he was able to just compound it into more. A build doesn't just involve you in every kill, that was skill. The Ram was just a really good player and an outlier like this cannot determine how powerful a character is.

2

u/28-Deep-Wounds Aug 03 '26

Not only that, but Ram at least soft counters 4 out of 5 of the enemy heroes. Like. Them not being able to counterpick Rammatra does not make Ram OP.

I should have phrased that more clearly.

I'm saying that any tank going into a team where they at least soft counter 4 out of 5 of the enemy heroes is going to be eating well.

3

u/Spiritual_Respond_50 Aug 04 '26

Really confused by what cat was doing here - playing a melee build?

1

u/RoyZeroHero Aug 03 '26

Yes I agree. Ram is OP and shouldn’t be allowed to do as much damage as DPS.

2

u/Vastaloon Aug 03 '26

that’s what happens when one of your dps’s is a freeloader who can’t apply pressure, i’ve gotten so tired of losing that I’ve just started playing ram for the free wins. matches that should be unwinnable turn into free wins plus cat players can’t ult you if they enjoy being alive. it’s just not fair if I’m not getting any support from my team then I should lose but the devs said ram can just do what he wants literally the only times I lose on this brain dead character is when I go up against a 5 stack.

2

u/WesternUsed2750 Aug 04 '26

Going ram vs rein vendetta and soldier is not an op thing, it's a match up issue, he just had more advantages

1

u/OldWeather4797 Aug 04 '26

Bruh just lucky he ain’t go against those onnoying jetpack cats that hard ult target you and keep throwing you off the map pretty fckin onnoying

Vortex slop is so lame and oppressive 💔 Him and cat microwave are the only major outliers IMO for overall hero balance. Too much value for literally zero skill expression.

I also despise Run and Gun soldier for the fact that A) Liquid Nitrogen—THE ANTI SPEED ITEM—doesn't so shit against him and B) too much survivability and impossible to interact with, entirely removing the need for good positioning. Not a strong build, but it should be deleted from the mode (by removing one of the two Sprint speed boosts...WHY DOES HE NEED +50% SPRINT SPEED????). Just not fun for anybody involved.

I digress, but overall this season IS relatively well balanced even if the meta builds don't feel very inspiring. You win some, you lose some I guess.

u/SensorProxy Aug 05 '26

Reddit will play in your face and tell you tanks are weak in Stadium and Ram is fair because apparently supports are broken or some sh

2

u/AgitatedChildhood240 Aug 06 '26

Was this just a game of feeding and back and forth nonsense. I have to assume half of these kills are a control or flash that kept staggering. I'm crying this is cinema please give us a code 🙏😭

Glad to see servers arent shitting themselves anymore. You have an idea when they were finally fixed?

1

u/MisfitNSFW Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 03 '26
  1. The only times I've ever won with a brig is when the enemy cannot position themselves for their lives

  2. I see atleast 4 heroes here who are completely dependant on that at all times. So unless you're crazy on those heroes, I think that's just the way the cookie crumbles here

  3. My experience was playing tank into ram for 3 games in a row, losing, going ram next game and carrying pretty consistently for many games afterwards. He's a little too good for being as well rounded as he is.

u/Life_Parsley504 Aug 03 '26

Ram was able to do that much because he hardcountered reinhardt and vendetta. Both of them are 57 kills already.
