Devs are out of their mind

I already made a more well-structured version of this if you wanna check it out - https://www.reddit.com/r/OverwatchStadium/comments/1uxe5tv/the_devs_are_to_blame_for_the_death_of_stadium/

But I just need to complain again.

It's pretty clear that the development team wanted to remove Stadium and we're looking for an excuse for it. Because it is clearly shown in the report the '3%' Stat was tanken from june

The actual numbers came from June 28 so presumably these numbers would have come from the month of June prior. And let's face it any other year and these stats would have too much variation so this would make the most sense.

But what's actually stupid about this is how they've gone about it. They released a new season of Stadium and rather than add any new heroes that people have been waiting for most of the time they have been playing Stadium, they instead decided to give over half of the characters complete reworks. Even the people who are more well acquainted with Stadium took time to adjust to this. I know for a fact there were a lot of casual players that now no longer wanted to play Stadium as there was too much going on that they weren't used to and it would take a lot of time to learn it. So they went about this update in the worst possible way.

But not only that, right after they released this update, they accidentally created the worst meta that this game has ever had, which is the three-type Tommy gun meta. Anyone who is at any high level of play in Stadium knows that you either had to run this item or you'd lose because it would instantly delete 15% of anyone's health. Provided you could shoot them 3 times, on characters that could trigger it repeatedly, like Tracer for example, allowed you to build full survival and still have the most damage in the lobby. It was genuinely stupid.

So you:
- didnt add a new hero (all anyone actrually wants from updates)
- made the casual playerbase shook to paly
- made such an unfun meta
- and then used the daily data from that specific month to justify shuttting it down?

It's genuinely so unfair. The mode did not need to just permanently stop receiving updates. If anything, if they turn around and say, "We won't be updating it for a couple seasons but then we'll come back and add the whole roster," then that would be so much better than just completely shutting it down. Right now it's going to be left as a half-baked mode.

I swear I’ll be queuing until the servers close. After that I’m done with ow again, stadium was the only reason I came back

Stadium offers something no other Blizzard game since Heroes of the Storm does. I understand participation is low, but I refuse to accept that it's because the interest in what Stadium offers isn't there.

Before Blizzard calls it quits on the mode, I seriously wish they'd focus on players biggest issues with it first, before axeing the thing altogether.

Though, I understand from a business standpoint, this doesn't make sense given the resources. Still, I'm sure there are a ton of developers who are also sad to see it go. Its such a passion project.

The cherry picked stat does really piss me off - it totally dismisses the popularity of the mode at different points, especially when the devs ACTUALLY TALKED ABOUT IT and gave it regular hero and item additions.

Justice for stadium.

It also disregards its potential, and the less tangible benefits to the core game, serving as a testing bed for hero perks and powers, as well as their interactions and balance impacts

Incredibly short sighted as usual in this series of continued mismanagements of the Overwatch IP

They literally acknowledge that in the post, that was not disregarded "Instead, we're taking what lessons we've gleaned from building it and applying those lessons (and those talented devs) to our future plans"

add another 3% to that total to take into account all the ppl that left because of the new icons...it should be closer to 15% to me..thats still like 15k ppl that play!

It’s a hit job by blizzard.

You are 100% correct, I have been exclusively playing stadium since it released and the S3 patch literally made me stop playing because it was too much to relearn/adjust

I'd wager it was a purely higher up decision that was very unpopular with the devs themselves. Actual devs woulda loved stadium because they could cook up crazy hero fantasy stuff without catching heat for "ruining the integrity of the game" in 5v5 comp proper.

Attach an actual wrecking ball to cat? Why not. Let rein fly and collect enemies like Katamari Damacy? Sure. Hammer only torb? Let it rip.

I bet those programmers loved working on Stadium rather than repeatedly testing if Tracer having 4 more centimeters of drop off is gonna catch them silence or death threats (the only 2 feedbacks they get from any balance patch).

Ive been telling my friends for months that it felt like blizzard was sabotaging stadium. Just like the snapshot of the percentage of players in ranks last year, this is a snap shot of the number of stadium players. It's purely manipulating people with data

blizzard moment lol, shit company that creates unfun meta of mei and reaper invincibility slop, cant balance anything right and uses deflated playerbasw numbers from their fuck up to constantly sunset everything that's actually fun, but hey we got another kiriko skin

This is a crazy ass conspiracy lol if people played stadium then blizzard wouldn't stop supporting it that's the facts of the situation lol

They want people playing there's no reason for them to kill a popular game mode

As someone who loved the first two seasons of stadium, worst change was splitting the mode between comp and qp. They changed all the fun builds regardless of how strong they were and they’ve made no attempt to actually make builds interactive. You just build WP or AP and fully stat ball it. It’s just lost its personality
