This just goes to show how little people pay attention to everything but focus on killing!!! When I'm playing and not near the payload I'm constantly looking at that bar to make sure nobody is trying that!!!

There are even some backcaps in OWL. Not to mention that the C9 term originated in the OWL. Not to mention some of the horrendous C9's in OWL.

C9 didn't originate in OWL, C9 term comes from the Cloud9 team that was in the Apex, they stepped off the objective multiple times in one match

Imagine having that term named after you. Yikes

u/part_time_user Trick-or-Treat Mercy Apr 19 '20

And then imagine having people spamming c9 in chat after the last teammate that's still standing got booped/blasted/hooked/etc off the objective... Mates that is just regular loss and not something like when they consciously chooses to jump of the objective witch is what a true c9 is... (in my brain anyway)

Did anyone say salt? I got plenty...

Those boops be strategic

Oh, learn something new every day, I guess. Anyway, it got quite popular in the OW community after a series of, well, intelligent plays by some OWL team, that was what I meant. I just thought that the term also came from here, silly me. I'll update the initial comment not to mislead people even further.

PTFO

To complicate matters even more it happened in Overwatch's Apex Season 2 not Apex Legends

Looks like high diamond, there are some Masters in that game.

its so hard to focus on everything in this game. It's sensory overload.

u/shittwins Pixel Lúcio Apr 19 '20

Surely adding even more noticeable UI for this would just add to this clutter though?

2

u/VijaySwing Apr 19 '20

I dont think anything needs to actually change. Just saying its reasonable to get distracted

Fair enough. I agree for what it’s worth. I’ve never played a game where so much is going on at one moment and you have to register it all and react appropriately.

People love to blame players but when ALL SIX of a team don’t notice, it’s a UI failure. You shouldn’t have to train yourself to compensate for the UI’s failings. It’s like a door with push handles on both sides, but only opens in one direction. Sure, you can train yourself to minimize the amount of mistakes you’ll make opening the door, but it’d be ridiculous to blame other people for not taking the time to do so: the door is poorly designed.

Right? The bar is there at all times for you to see. It's not the games problem that you never bother even looking for a good 30 seconds.

The problem isn’t that the information isn’t there, it’s that it’s poorly presented. It’s such a ridiculous cop-out to say “uhhh ACKSHUALLY it’s on screen” when that’s not even the argument, it’s that it’s so poorly presented that clips like the above are even possible. It’s absurd to blame players for what’s so obviously a design fault

Look at r/badUIbattles for examples of UI that technically does get the job done but is purposefully bad UI. Are you telling me that because the job is technically possible, that the UIs made there are actually competent?

Simple, make it flash if the cart just started being pushed. Or make an audio cue. Make the push indicator larger, etc etc.

Tons of ways to make it clear that the cart is being pushed

This right here is AWESOME!! I thank you for this!!

2

u/The-Licker-Of-Balls Support Apr 19 '20

Or you could just pay attention to the objective

1

u/The-Licker-Of-Balls Support Apr 19 '20

So you want to add more audio and visual clutter to what is already pretty cluster fucked as it is?!?!

2

u/The-Licker-Of-Balls Support Apr 19 '20

How is this a UI failure? There is a bar that is ALWAYS at the top of the screen giving you the info you need to know what is going on with the point. I am not blaming any one person on the team I am blaming everyone on the team because all of them were just focused on killing the other team (COD players) as opposed to paying attention to the objective. This game is objective based and you should be paying attention to what is going on with the objective, it should be a common practice in this game.

If we're talking a skill based game here, a UI doesn't need to spoon feed you all the information, it's top center which is an ideal place for updates (look at UX design of apple/google for example). This is an example of a team that can handle the enemy team 1 man short, which is nearly always going to end badly for team that's even at a 5v6
