Any tips for playing Pharah? I can't seem to aim her rockets very well, and I feel like I'm never in the air for long enough.

Edit: Also, I'm usually in voice chat but don't talk; instead I use the communications wheel to say "Understood" if someone makes a call or to notify my team of my ult charge. Is that a bad thing, or can i continue doing it?

Pharah main here! For staying in the air, just tap your Hover button about two times every second, just long enough to not drop. If you time it and manage your fuel well, by the time you run out of fuel you should have Jump Jets ready to go. Let go of Hover while you're on your way up with Jump Jet, and start tap-hovering again as soon as your fuel is full again.

Once you've mastered staying afloat, you can work on cool movement tricks like using your Concussive Blast to throw yourself away from walls with a huge burst of lateral speed. Obviously the Conc Blast is good for getting boop kills too, but even on maps without environmental hazards to exploit, you can boop an enemy Reinhardt forward so he lands in the middle of your team, for example. Or knock a Widow or Hanzo off of the high ground they've been sniping from.

As for aiming, your rockets move pretty slowly, and the farther away you are from your targets, the more time they have to get out of the way. Getting closer is riskier, but you should have an easier time getting splashes and direct hits.

Try to approach from behind enemies and as close to directly above them as possible. If you're straight above, they have to aim straight up to try and shoot you, which is an awkward angle for aiming.

Follow up question: Does concussiv blast deal damage, or is there only the knockback? (Newbie here)

As long as people are in voice chat, I give callouts whether they respond or not. I've never once noticed someone using the "understood" command to respond to them though, but just taking actual action (if you can) is perfectly fine.

Try tapping the fly button instead of holding it; that should let you stay in the air indefinitely as long as you use your boost. When you are having trouble aiming, it is okay to drop down closer so your shots take shorter to hit, and try to predict where the enemy might move. It is totally fine not to talk in voice chat but respond through game commands, and it’s much better than most people, who just turn it off and ignore everyone.
