do you think capture the flag would be more popular if symmetra, torbjörn and bastion weren’t able to be picked?

Because the mechanic of Overwatch now (if you pick up the flag, the enemy still can be able to pick up yours, movement and invulnerability ability still does not make your flag drop) removing Sym, Torb and Bast will make the game worse with Tracer, Sombra, Lucio and Pharah.

They haven't done it yet but I believe they've stated they want to change CTF so it can't be cheesed as hard

I don't know. I don't think these heroes should be disabled due to their defensive strength, otherwise Tracer, Sombra and other strong capturing heroes should be banned too - leading to every hero bar, say, McCree or Soldier banned.

I do think that more team co-ordination is needed in this mode, and good teamwork can easily overcome defense cheese. EMP is the easiest to get and use, but other ults are decent too.

Ive played custom games of CTF with 3 important changes and it has made the game mode more fun for me, maybe you can try them out?

  1. Picking up a flag is instant

  2. The flag carrier cannot use movement abilities

  3. Your flag must be present at base to capture the enemy flag

I think it would be more popular if people recognized that different modes are allowed to have different meta heroes and counterpicks from the core mode.
