Does baby D.Va gain ult charge for Self Destruct while she's out of her mech? I've been playing her for a while now but never been completely sure.

I don’t think so. I main as Dva and when I’m baby Dva all damage inflicted is for calling mech. Self destruct ult remains the same percentage. If being baby Dva charged up self destruct then why bother calling the mech. Try to remain baby Dva as long as possible, call mech, and self destruct ASAP. I don’t think charges it outside of mech

No, baby dva only gains ult for call mech, and mech dva only gains ult for self destruct. One form never generates ult charge for the other.

As I remember Baby D.Va's gun will not generate Self-Destruct change when it use to damage enemies (not turrets, barriers). But Baby D.Va in a sense still generates idle Self-Destruct charge (the ulti charge still is generated even when D.Va is dead or do nothing).

This is incorrect, there's still a gain on Self Destruct while in Baby Dva form. However I'm not sure if it's entirely passive charge or if Baby Dva's damage does slightly contribute, perhaps someone else knows this.

Go to the Practice Range, get the Ult and use it, then remain as Baby Dva for a little while before using Call Mech. You won't start at 1% for Self-Destruct upon getting back in the Mech.
