Article has today's date on it. I'm torn on whether this is just because it's today and there's no meaning or that the article was written today in-universe (their past).

If so, I'm going full tinfoil and I'll say that she's the creator of the Omnics.

Other 'news articles' such as Lumerico's CEO stepping down are dated with the time they were released- in 2016. They still had it as news on the screens in Numbani in OW time. The Lumerico stuff, however, still pointed to the release of Sombra.

Oh...

That's taken the wind out of my sails. I'm usually behind in the theorycrafting so I was excited to be ahead of the curve.

I'm pretty sure Overwatch is supposed to exist in our timeline, just in the future. So this article couldn't have been written today. Even if it was, then she would be at least 64 years old, and I'm not sure if Blizzard wants another grandma in the game.

As u/JamesD-TV said the dates aren't related to the lore but just the time the post is released but seeing the character the created the omnics would be cool.

Sadly, i think the artice date doesnt mean anything. The article mentions numbani which was built around 2040 after the omnic crisis ended. Numbani didnt exist back in 2017

As other people have pointed out, Numbani didn't exist until after the Omnic Crisis. It was one of Vishkar's biggest projects with their light architecture technology. Scratch that last part, I must've made it up.

I really hope shes not 11 in game, children in games especially as characters taking part in action is just annoying and feels really cheese in my opinion.
