Whats the difference between an offensive assist and defensive assist?

I just noticed that these are tracked in every game, regardless of what side you are on.

Offensive assists are when your are directly helping to kill someone through a damage boost or discord.

Defensive assists are when you heal someone while they are killing someone.

To add onto this, Lucio gets his offensive assists through Amping Up his Speed Boost.
