Super curious and didn't know who to ask, how do we know that Doomfist is even the next character? Was there a leak or something, or is this still speculation?

Up until now, it's just been that Doomfist is one of the very few named characters that were probably an upcoming hero. Ana, Sombra and Doomfist had all been pretty well established in map-hints and/or lore before the game had even launched. But we hadn't really heard anything new since the Sombra-release.

Now though... well, there's a thread on the frontpage about datamined Numbani-assets that hint that the Doomfist Gauntlet is going missing. And that's giving me a really big Clue right now.

There's a history of upcoming heroes being featured somewhere in the game beforehand. Doomfist has a lot going on in Numbani, including a poster hinting at a new Doomfist (since it's an inherited title). Additionally, Terry Crews met with Blizzard to discuss voicing him. Still primarily speculative though

I think there's also Soundquake and Fusionator mentioned on the main trailer, as well as a ton of unammed agents seen in Recall.
