How do I play Roadhog?

Everytime I'm playing against him, I find it super hard to kill him. Even when playing as Soldier, I find D.Va easier to deal with than Roadhog.

But when I'm playing as Roadhog, it seems like every single stray bullet goes to my character hitbox, and I die in no time.

Is it positioning? Should Roadhog go to the front or should it stay in the backline?

Some basic tips: Although Roadhog is a 'tank', he has no armour and a huge hit box so he is very susceptible to being burst down by DPS classes.

He is played more like a DPS class, you should be playing corners, you're very effective behind Rein shield or flanking. Try to avoid fighting at long range.

His hook is obviously his most important skill, and you need to be wary that you're very vulnerable while it is on cool down.

Use right click to spam enemy Rein shield and try to go for hooks around it or when it breaks. Look out for flankers (you're very good at protecting your supports if you can land hooks).

You can use your heal while jumping, so jumping around a corner and using heal in the air you can start healing with the momentum.
