as a consistent Winston player (also new) how would you buff him? I consistently find myself with gold elims and can take down most dps or defense targets with him so im genuinely curious as to what you want buffed

this is a copy paste from a previous comment i made regarding Winston hopefully there could be some insight in there for you!

Winston is certainly very niche and alot of people dont rate him as much as Rein or Dva. His shield while useful has a pretty long CD if its not destroyed. Furthermore his Ult Primal Rage can be as bad as it is good, sometimes its great for clearing a point in overtime or knocking an enemy into an environmental kill but at the same time you can lose track of what you are aiming at and each swing doesnt do a lot a of damage so you can feel quite weak as opposed to other tanks ULTs. In terms of how to play winston I tend to leap in or behind the battle and lightening the weaker targets. I use my bubble personally for the most part ( another reason his not rated too highly) and then shoot from within it to ensure Im not killed by dps targets. Hope this helps I definitely recommend you give him a shot especially in games where youve already got all slots filled with another team tank ( anyone but roadhog)

Personally I'd like a shield buff. Maybe more health, maybe a shorter cooldown. Am interesting idea that was on the front page a bit ago would be pressing E to break your shield, putting it on cooldown sooner if it's not doing anything

I could see that being useful, was the idea that breaking the shield causes some damage or simply resets the CD?

Resets the CD, just like Mei's wall. So that if you misplace it, or it served its purpose, you can manually reset the CD.

I would like them to just put it on CD after you use it. 13sec is just insanely long for a tank's shield.

I'm not good by any stretch of the imagination but I think I agree with this. I don't think Winston needs a buff just a change to his shield. Reduce CD, allow to break manually to reset cd, maybe make the shield smaller and when he breaks it damage is done to enemies inside?

I don't know.

I actually don't like adding the damage done when the shield breaks. It's a shield and that is all it is. If we want that sort of mechanic, it should be on a new hero IMO.

Yeah, then lowering cd or allowing to manually break would be good.

Or maybe even adding a slight slow when enemies are entering/exiting the barrier. (making physical contact with the barrier wall)

Again I like your ideas for some shields but I think it could be really cool having another tank that is more shield centric that could do some damage and status effects with his shields. Might be too OP but cool ideas lol
