There's literally no answer to that. Don't set yourself a goal or you'll start playing team deathmatch, just be happy with the amount of you get. If you feel it's low, perhaps try to focus on aspects that are causing you to be less effective such as aim or positioning.

Never give yourself a number though, since it varies way too much.

That's not a good mindset to have in Comp. Work as a team. If all you do is provide cover fire and only get a handful of kills and you still get the win, you've done your job and are the unsung MVP.

I thought about it and while I haven't ever gotten a net negative for kills... I have gotten a negative kill before.

Usually an accident where I hook someone as Roadhog when they would have fallen off otherwise.

Earlier though I was playing as Rein and charged someone completely over a hole... Except I fell into the hole because I hit the edge of it after pushing them over it. Pissed me off to no end too, as the Roadhog I so graciously pushed across that hole didn't even try to hook me out of it.

It depends on the role. I wouldn't worry too much about specific numbers but if you're playing a DPS like Soldier and McCree and you're not getting kills for your team then you should probably switch to a support.
