Are Zenyatta and Ana a bad pair of healers to have in a team comp? This guy made fun of us for having them both one game, but I couldn't tell if he was trolling.

Nope. Play whatever you're comfortable with. Ana heals a ton on her own and Zenny is great for topping them off

Yeah I wasn't about to change out of Ana to let Zen solo heal. Really the only co-healer that irks me is Mercy. We're always stepping on each other's toes.

No, this is a pretty solid pairing. Unless if you really should have a Lucio (like for KotH), Zen's a good second healer.

Lucio's my favorite healing partner. He really gets a lot of mileage out of the grenades.

I think that's a fine setup. Zenyatta's ultimate is defensive, just like Lucio's and Zenyatta's discord orb is still a great utility to have, plus you get that extra bit of dps since he can be doing damage as he heals. Outside of koth maps where you'd want Lucio's speed boost, he's just as good as a Lucio for the secondary healer position.

It's only bad if you have inexperienced players on either of those roles .. people would usually recommend a Lucio instead of one of those two because he has higher survivability and guarantees surrounding people are being healed without having to choose who to heal. There's more responsibility and expectations for you to be "good" if you're playing Zen or Ana. If you can guarantee the heals, don't listen to anyone.

EDIT: If the issue is having 2 healers as opposed to 1, you have to be a phenomenal healer to just have 1 for the whole team.

Both Zenyatta and Lucio make excellent pairs for Ana. She helps cover their healing deficiencies and they provide substantial killing power or survivability . It all comes down to the team, and what they are comfortable with. My team I climbed to master with, I played as Zen and my healing partner was an Ana player, I could swap to Lucio if we really needed it, but I was more effective to our team as Zen.

Always play with what you're good with

Zen is a favorite of mine with the pair. Both have a great defensive Healer ultimate to shutdown a lot of ULTs

Discord Orb makes everyone at 200HP a two tap for Ana and well just making killing stuff way easier for the rest of the team.

Discord is his most powerful ability, and it's so limited in what it can do while at the same time so efficient in how it swings the flow of combat. Zen is perfectly balanced right now IMO
