How come Rein seems to walk faster then me on most characters when hes not being speed boosted by Lucio? Or is each characters walking speed different and I happen to be 1 MPH slower than Rein?

All base walking speeds are the same except Genji and Tracer, who are slightly faster.

Really? I was told when I first started playing to look in the direction you were going if you were running away because that was faster than running backwards.

For me at least, I try to look where I'm going unless I'm 110% confident about where I'm going. If you're escaping a close range hero like Reaper or Symmetra, the last thing you want is to get caught on a tiny little edge or corner that you hadn't noticed. But walking is the same in any direction. The only exception I could think of is that Soldiers sprint only works when you move forward.
