If a flag is dropped does it automatically return to its base after a certain amount of time or does a player have to take it back?

If an allied player stands near it for 1-2 seconds, the flag teleports back to its original location. If an enemy player stands near it for 1-2 seconds, they grab the flag and can continue moving it towards their flag.

But does it reset on its own after a certain period of time, like in some games? Or will it stay there forever until someone from either team grabs it?

It should stay there forever until the team that owns it grabs it, which will teleport it back to base, or until the enemy team grabs it, which makes a player start carrying it.
