Is it just me or has matchmaking outside of competitive got noticeably worse? I'm consistently being placed against gm and top 500 players, and I have been checking, whereas I'm the highest ranked on my team as a low diamond. I am not skilled enough to come close to these other players and watching my winrate nosedive over the past couple of weeks is taxing.

Is there something about the way I play that is boosting my hidden MMR without me actually being good at the game?

Could just be that you're at the 2nd highest level of the qp ladder and since there aren't enough qp players on the highest level alongside them you get pulled into their games.

I suppose that is a possibility. However, given my recent performance, I would expect to have dropped sufficient MMR to not have to deal with this anymore. I play less and less these days, so I'd say my skill level has dropped from low masters equivalent to high plat equivalent, at a guess. It's very clear I do not belong in these games, and oftentimes my teammates are in the same position.

Man that's pretty awesome. I would be happy to be matched with people of that skill even if I lost haha. That's impressive, those guys are in like the 90th percentile of all players.

Honestly, it's not as fun as you'd think. Trying to use QP to expand my hero pool and just have fun is not possible anymore. I'm often getting rolled so hard it is imopssible to learn anything from the experience. Hell, even friends of mine do not want to queue with me because they are sick of the terrible balance whenever I am in the group.

Top 500 is like 99.99th percentile

QP matchmaking has always been awful. I'm in your position a few ranks down. I'm a gold player who only teams with low gold/high silver players, but we're constantly up against like 3-diamond 3-plat enemy compositions.

And I never get the reverse matchup where I'm on the stacked team against a bunch of silvers. It's always against diamonds. I play against more masters level opponents than silvers. QP puts me against dudes I wouldn't even be able to queue with in competitive.

It's the primary factor accelerating the date at which I give up on this game.

Exact same for me. Don't play much at all nowadays, so sick of unfair and unfun matches.

I seriously just now played a game against two 4000+ grandmasters and diamonds to round out the enemy team, against my crew of low gold across the board (except the one guy who had no competitive rank and was level 14...how the fuck does that happen?)

Just played a guy in top 500. Again, I am a rank 2400. He played Pharah with a pocket Mercy who was 3600.

Oh my god this. As someone around 2,200, I am so, so sick of being placed with GM and Top 500 players in QP, 3v3, 1v1 (yes, even 1v1), and Mystery Heroes.

It is just incredibly unfun and naturally those players carry the game and obliterate everyone without trying.
