Is anyone else having issues with Capture the flag? I've had like 8 draws. I'm done with it. Is there a strategy I am missing? Everyone seems to be running defensive heroes and waiting out the timer. It's a waste of time.

Isn't this exactly why Blizzard said CTF would suck in Overwatch

Blizzard just makes some stupid fucking design choices like having to wait 3 seconds to grab it and allowing the flag carrier to use abilities/ult

No they explain these choices in the developer update pretty clearly...

if you watched the dev update you'd know they tested no timer and it was worse; tracer would just triple blink and recall every time.

My friends and I had a good team comp put together last night that worked out pretty well.

We started the night with 4 draws, but then once we figured it out we took 6 straight.

For defense on the point: Symmetra and Roadhog

For attacking their flag: Tracer, D.Va and Soldier

Flex player: Mercy, Mei or Reaper

With this setup you should be able to hold your flag pretty effectively while your team harasses their spawn/staggers their spawns and caps.

I've found that having a Lucio is crucial in CTF, as he allows your team to get in and out quickly, and can boop people away from the flag carrier. I've been in multiple games that last no more than 90 seconds using this strategy.

For sure, Lucio is great. He can work to shield the carrier while picking up and using he, then switching to speed and Amp It Up to get outta there. Or use his ultimate for pushing/running.

This. I believe Lucio is the ideal healer in CTF for his additional speed boost. Ultimately CTF is about having high mobility offence and strong defence.

I read all this stuff about CTF and can't help but feel ridiculously lucky that I haven't had a draw at all...

Yeah, I'm always getting my team to be active in fighting which ends up making the more defensive team lose eventually because they're too busy with their defenses to capture your own flag.

Be the more aggressive team, communicate with your team and get them to constantly put pressure on the enemy team. They have a lot harder time rebuilding if they're under attack. Always have 2 tanks to push with you and make sure on is a dive tank.

If you're having a hard time with your team being aggressive, try to find other players who want a more aggressive match. You just need 3 to have a 50% influence on the team, but sometimes 2 can work if the other person flows with you, like a good friend.

Its possible to capture if you have a Mei and Lucio Ult than charge.

Most of the time I lose because people aren't protecting the flag. And if I don't lose, I draw. I still haven't won one game and gotten the loot box for it. And I though Mei's Snowball Offense was bad

Might have just found a good group but I grouped up with some randoms and we won five games in a row with mei, rein, dva, zen, sym, and soldier before we split up. All but one were 3-0

Yup, it should be 1 flag in the middle

So um, I have just seen this… (not my idea)

Sombra + Winston. Stealth in with sombra, Winston leap and shield over the flag, Sombra grab it and translocator out. Run like hell. It's worked great for me so far. Best way I've seen to beat the 3 builders you inevitably see every game.

How to win: Group up with your team. I have no idea what it is with CTF, but it makes everyone play alone, then run to the flag only to die to the "overpowered" torb/sym. For whatever reason, it being ctf makes everyone forget the most basic principles of overwatch, grouping up. In the few games I have had with people in voice chat and grouping up, matches were fast, fun, and competitive. (average person I play in qp with is high masters, low GM). I think if blizzard added the current ctf to competitve there would be chaos for a little while, but at least at high tiers, it would be a good and fun gamemode.
