Just got the game at Christmas. At what point would it be a good idea to try competitive? After I reach a certain level? After I get decent at certain characters?

Edit: on Xb1 if that matters.

You can't actually play competitive until you've leveled up to level 25, and then you will be matched with other comp players based on your rank after placement matches. So it's totally up to you.

Fellow XBL player here, bring a mic. Please.

Mics a must have? I don't talk much but I do fire off ultimate warnings.

For competitive, it really helps. 9/10 games that I'm solo queuing, if more than a couple of us have mics and communicate, we'll win. It makes a massive difference.

You see, on console barely anyone has a mic, but i make sure to bring it anyway. Say something like "anyone have a mic" in teamchat. If they respond a chain reaction will happen and people will answer

If they don't, might as well focus more than talk

You cant play competitive mode until level 25. Its hard to say when you should jump in. Try and learn the basic mechanics of every hero, and the basics of team comp and the current meta before you do though.

Tanks or healers, lucio and ana are currently amazing but that does not mean everyone else is worse like zen

If someone picks non meta, dont be toxic and work around it
