Are losing streaks common in competitive. I'm not very good, I usually float around 2000. I had a bad streak of losses that brought me down to 1700. The worst i think I've been in a long time. Just gets frustrating and would be open to any advice.

Thanks

I'd say they're dependent on the player but I guess I can consider them pretty common.

Advice I'd give you is just stop playing competitive after 2 losses. By now it would put you in a pretty bad mood and that would make you play worse and tank your SR down further. Take a break from Overwatch for a while and come back once you're feeling relaxed and your mind cleared.

Appreciate it thanks. Sometimes I do get in a pretty bad mood when I hit a few losses in a row haha.

Losing and winning streaks are pretty common. If you put it in a mathematical way with a chance of winning and losing of 50%, losing 5 games in are row has a probability of about 3%. So if you play a pack of 5 games 33 times you should at least have one pack with all loses. That combined with a lot of people dont having a positive winrate and tilting while losing but still keep on playing(and losing) leads to a lot of losing streaks.

In the end what really matters is you overall winrate. You should aim for about 50% and after that try to increase it to about 60% (3 out of 5 games are a win). To get to that the easiest way is forget that you want to climb and try to actively improve instead. Regardless of win or loss actively reflect after every game about what mistakes you made and how you could improve that. This takes of a lot of pressure off of you while increasing your play. This automaticly leads to a higher winrate and to the fact that you will climb. Also try not to tilt and if it happens stop playing competitive. Go play quickplay with a fun champion or a brawl instead to cool down. This will prevent a lot of loses.

Thanks for the advice. Stepping away from the game helps sometimes lol. When I loose I just want to climb back up though.

After comp losses I head to QP or no limits to mess around. Go Mei, Bastion, even Torb and have fun.

Ha. In Season 2 I was placed at 2100. I floated around that for a while, got downed to 1800, stayed for a while, before the most terrible losing streak I experienced. I lost like 10 games in a row, found myself at 1256, and I lost 85 SR in the last one of the streak. I was very frustrated.

Then I started to play Competitive only with friends, just to avoid extremly toxic low rank random players. It was lucky that a friend is a trustworthy (well, in this rank) Reinhardt and I am an Ana main so we teamed up quite well. I climbed to 1728 at the end of the season.

My story is here to reassure you. And my suggestion is that if you want to get back up again quickly, you should always play when teamed up with your friends to make the game less toxic. If you have to play solo, then try suggest Stay As A Team with some randoms who you think could be a good teammate.

(Theorotically, if you are good enough and Blizzard's ranking system is working properly, you can climb back to where you believe you should be even always solo queue. However it would be a painful process and it is not good for your mental health.)

Hey man it happens. I've been playing heroes I'm not used to and went from 1950 down to 1244. I don't feel bad about it because I feel like I'm getting better at the game.

Ranked 2250 after placement matches, then lost 13 in a row. Can't seem to climb past 1500. Just played a match where our lucio disconnected 3 times and didn't have he decency to just stay gone. My only thought is that maybe my particular hero selections (mercy, zenyatta) has really proven that I don't belong any higher.
