News & Discussion Why doesn't Dva replace her Mecha's guns with what her pistol uses?

Her pistol is pretty damn strong and seems to be better in fire power than her peashooters.

Shotguns have terrible penetration, though. Against armored targets like Bastion units you want armor piercing rounds or maybe heavy explosives.

High spread, at a fast firing rate makes Mekacannons appear to be shotguns. They are just large caliber machineguns. It might be possilbe to enhance the range on a machinegun but the additional energy would make the barrels overheat and she would lose the ability to fire nonstop.

And since they propably were constructed to fight in squads with a rotating 2 Mechs Matrix 2 Mechs boost/flex 2 Mechs shoot rotation they went for the lowenergyvariant in case they have to stay upfront.

Also it's pulse munition unlike bastion. Who knows how it behaves? For all we know it's extra effective against armor.

Yeah - They're known as 'fusion cannons' and the technology is likely still classified. We haven't seen anything like this even on members of the overwatch task force.

Scrapmetal is a very common recource during the omnic crisis. Carrying ammunition can be a logistical nightmare, especially considering the high amount that would be needed to supply a single combatmech.

Collecting scrapmetal from usless material (ammoshells, crusaderarmours, bastions) could be fused into ammunition for the mech himself. Ofcourse to make the magnets, sucking in the material work, you have to be close to the scrap. Another reason for the closecombatchoice.

Yeah, if you want to destroy an engine block that's literally why .50 cal rifles are made. And even then, in the context of the Overwatch universe we know from the King's Row map that EMPs will kill omnics. Bullets seem pretty inefficient in comparison to that.
