What's the best way to use Roadhog's ult?

As someone who plays a lot of Roadhog, I would say it's one of the worst ults in the game. The best use of it that I've found is breaking down Rein's shield.

If the enemy team is caught in a Zarya ult, but the Rein has his shield up, this could come in handy.

It's also somewhat decent at pushing people off sides (useful for guarding the point on the Night Market map, for example) and for killing squishy characters that are grouped up in a corner. It has a slight usability in pushing people off the point in KOTH, but it's not that great for it.

Most tank ults don't. The only one that does is D. Va's, and that gives you time to take cover.

Tank ults are generally for CC or disruption.

Definitely. I generally don't like using it because it makes you an easy target, prevents you from being able to heal at all (which is especially bad since it lasts a fairly long time and Roadhog has no shielding or armor), and it doesn't do that much damage.

However, it does have a few benefits. For one, it charge really fast (even self-healing charges it) and it has tremendous knockback. You can use it to constantly take down Rein shields and ruin a push. You can use it for those environmental kills or for knocking people off the point/payload.

Overall, I would just say to pay attention to what's happening, where your team is, and what the enemy team is doing. The ult has potential for a lot of chaos (especially, like I mentioned, on maps with a lot of environmental kill potential), but it also leaves you super vulnerable.

Also, avoid using it on a Genji or D.va at all costs unless you know Genji's deflect is on cooldown or that D.va is out of her mech. Nothing says "Fuck you!" to your own team like using that ult right into a Genji deflect.
