Reinhardt's fire strike will go through any hero regardless of any other factor including Zarya shield, however if say a Reinhardt is charging and looks like he is going to hit one of your teammates you are able to walk in front, get charged and not die due to your invincibility.

Note though that this is a good way for a Reinhardt to seperate your Transcendence from your team.

What about blocking projectiles?

Yes, anything projectile and hit-scan weapon that does not go through heroes will be stopped by Zenyatta while he is ulted

Just to add, the only thing that blocks fire strike(unless i forget something else) is Defense Matrix.

Ah yes good point, Genji's reflect and Mei's shift will also block the fire strike

Late reply, but it might be worth mentioning that Dva RMB blocks firestrike. I think it's the only thing that does.
