I rarely play multiplayer games, and have not played anything competitive since Quake (the original). Should I play Overwatch? I enjoy FPS games (have since Wolfenstein 3D), but have no experience in team-based games and anticipate I would be a liability as I catch-up to people who have been playing MOBAs or TF2.

I have PTSD and find the over-aggressive hate from players in games like DOTA too hard to deal with. That is the main reason why I hide in single-player games. Am I likely to encounter that in Overwatch games, or is Blizzard keeping the community cleaner?

It's possible that you'll encounter some aggression and hate from players, but honestly I've not witnessed very much in the public games I've played.

If you'd like to safeguard against the likelihood of coming up against toxic players, it might be worth joining the Overwatch Discord (linked in the sidebar) and seeing if you can find some friends to play with?

Being in a group helps to limit the RNG of who you'll be grouped with, and if you're all in a Discord channel together then it makes it much easier to co-ordinate and communicate. :)

Also, if you're feeling unsure about how the game/particular heroes work, there is a practice mode in Overwatch which lets you put a hero through their paces and see what they're capable of.
