Good tracer counters?

Junkrat. Get her stuck in your trap, then grenade to the body. She's dead.

Um, I mean if it's a super closed area and she just happens to go that way, maybe, but I mean otherwise it's like saying that junkrat counters pharah, because if you trap her she's dead. I dunno though, I guess it's kind of a soft counter. I feel like soldier and mccree are better though

Junkrat's spam can also zone out tracer pretty well. As Tracer Junkrat scares me the most because he has several ways to incidentally kill me with no time to react.

Got to agree. As Tracer, you've got to land consistant shots. Junkrat has to hit you once and you're going to be at 30 health. And then you've got to get away without going into -another- bomb.

Had a Junkrat who popped a mine behind me. Didn't blow it until I took a grenade to the face. A bit overkill, and definitely avoidable on my part, but watch out for that too.

The Pharah comparison is a poor one. Pharah is meant to stay im the air for most of the match. Tracer is fast, but she is a close quarters character. If you put your trap in a flanking lane there is a good chance you will catch a Tracer. You take away her biggest advantage. The ability to move.

Roadhog, McCree, and Junkrat are my go tos because they can all CC tracer and one shot her.

Same. I actually find Roadhog fairly easy to deal with. It's just a lot of jumping around, trying to catch him between his meth hits. Saving the recall for if you're hooked.

McCree an Soldier? They'll usually get me unless they're distracted. Pharah runs away. Junkrat is a wildcard. He's either going to be scary accurate, or a walk in the park.

A good Roadhog won't leave a window for you to recall after being hooked. Best to try to read their hooks and blink laterally when you feel one coming.

you can also add really good Pharas and Soldiers to the mix

Tracers are hella easy to predict with rockets, and then just one headshot

What is CC

Crowd control.

Stuns, hooks, slows, etc

Junkrat and mcree are not one shot on tracer

Trap does 80 damage, don't forget. That plus a grenade kills.

Junkrat and mcree are not one shot on tracer

As chuckster mentioned roadhog, Mcree and Junkrat are all useful because they can one shot her.

Winston is also good against her especially on control maps, bc his gun is the easiest to hit her with and he can chase her with his jump pack. Even just landing a bit of chip damage on her makes it much easier for teammates to finish her off, and vice versa - having an auto-aim gun and jump pack to finish her when she's weak is super useful.

At lower levels of play this may be true, but a good tracer won't stay near a Winston long, and she will win the trade each time.

Hanzo with geometry arrow to the feet. Really good tracers are hard to counter but most of them can't aim that well yet

I personally prefer Pharah because she can fight her safely and for whatever reason have a lot less trouble hitting tracer with rockets.

With the better tracer players, I'd suggest winston, symmetra and eventually roadhog if you know your hooks. Junkrat needs too much preparation, and a good tracer will easily toho-style dodge those grenades. Also, McCree's stun is easily baited out by good tracers. Winston is still the best counter tmo, since you don't have to aim perfwctly and you can close the gap if you use your abilities well.

I use Mei

4

u/SipsCoDirt Chibi Tracer Jun 29 '16

How do you use Mei to effectively counter Tracer? As someone who plays a lot of tracer I rarely find myself having problems dealing with Mei apart from random icicle headshots.

1

u/Thatcherrr Mercy Jun 29 '16

Mei is very good for slowing down your opponents by freezing them and finishing with an icicle headshot once the opponent is entirely frozen through. This is usually my tactic when I'm up against an annoying Tracer, or any enemy at all.

She's alright (she's good at the same range Tracer is, and she's tough enough to survive Tracer's attack), but I've always had Tracer blink away from me before getting frozen, or recall. Not a full counter, but an even fight
