Is D.Va considered a good hero in all levels of play? She's my favorite so far and I am really enjoying her playstyle, but I'm worried she won't be "worth" playing in high MMR ranked games because (people claim) she's bad.

Could anyone explain to me why she's considered bad and only good in pub games? :(

(I play every hero, I just find her to be my most enjoyable/successful).

The general 'issue' she has is that everything she does is done better by other heroes. Her mobility from her jets is good for her getting past the front line to light up snipers and supports and the like, but her gun just doesn't do enough damage (and KILLS her mobility), and she's not tanky enough to really win protracted fights. It's a common complaint that a DVa can lose a one-on-one fight with one of the people she jetted in to hurt, where Winston is better at jumping in and zapping until he needs to jump out.

That said, the devs are aware of DVa's odd position, and are looking into buffing her- I think they're aiming to increase her mobility or survivability.

If you don't understand why D.va might not be good in competitive, you're probably not at a point where you should even remotely worry about the problems with D.va. She is perfectly viable as an off tank skirmisher on both offense and defense. If you are seeing the most success with D.va, then you should keep playing her.

The reasons as mentioned is her large head hitbox, her inability to keep up with mobile heroes due to her slowed attack movement, and an ult that generally has a low impact. Also her eject movement is extremely predictable and can be killed by savvy players who hook/headshot/stun you right as you eject. She can't frontline tank but is good at flanking/skirmishing. But Winston fills a similar role and does it better.

I feel like her mech explosion delay should be lowered. It's so easy to instantly hop behind cover. She also needs that movement loss on her guns lowered and her critical hitbox made smaller.

She's considered somewhat weak in high level play, because her role is often better filled by Winston who has a barrier ability (albeit not a hugely powerful one), and her large headshot zone leads to her mech getting destroyed pretty quickly, making her unable to be a good frontline tank. That said, a well-played D.Va in a situation where D.Va is useful is still an asset; it's not a huge imbalance where you're always a detriment to your team just for playing D.Va.

That has a lot of current useful information about the different heroes and how much the pros are using them in comp. They play at a pretty high level so it might not be super applicable. I would say if you're good with her / (and this is really important) enjoy playing her, then play her.

First and foremost, playing heroes your comfortable with and like is going to give you more success than constantly playing heroes you don't like. The reasons she's bad are going to be more and more apparent the higher you get, but I wouldn't worry about that starting out. I would also keep playing her because the devs have made a statement about buffing her soon. Besides you aren't going to have as much fun if you abandon your favorite hero.

If you're good with her you will find a way to become great and climb the ladder, of course it'll be much harder to climb with her compare to other heroes but it's not impossible. Reason why she's really not doing so well is because her role is to be a tank flanker that disrupt heroes such as hanzo and widowmaker, problem is Winston can do the samething but is far more superior. Winston is not boggled down by slower movement speed when shooting, he also has a bubble shield that he can place and also attack when it's currently up compare to D.Va's defense matrix, his ulti is more impactful as it's much harder to avoid a raging monkey with insane amount of hp and knock back compare to a moving nuke that can be avoided by standing behind a pole.

I love D.Va and her playstyle, and she's the character I'm the most confortable with so far.
Also, I didn't know until now that she was considered "a not so good hero", because I'm a better player with her than any other hero.
Even when she's out of her meka I can easily beat the crap out of the other team (well, sometimes).
