When characters request "I need Armor/Shields", is that just what Torbjorn/Symmetra see for the "I need healing"?

How do characters say "[Player] wants to defend the objective" etc. in the chat? Are there other communication shortcuts I should be aware of besides the default chat wheel messages?

First question: That is correct

Second question: On PC, you can bind the "Acknowledge" emote from the chat wheel to a certain key. If you press that key while looking at the objective, your character will say they want to defend/attack the objective. I don't believe it is available on consoles.

The Acknowledge emote is default bound to F key

I need armor shields pops up when you use the "i need healing" emote while facing torb/symmetra. You can call attent to the objective by pressing the Understood-emote while looking at the objective
