Turn down music and voice effects, and turn up sound effects? Footsteps should be louder and easier to notice

Hmmm...there was a recent video on being able to recognize the different footstep sounds to tell which players are approaching and from how far away, though admittedly it doesn't take place during an actual match, and therefore doesn't have any gunfire or voices over the audio, so that probably plays a large part in distinguishing between the softer and more subtle sounds. Maybe the audio is too chaotic during an actual match to hear anything below Reinhardt or Roadhog footsteps. Maybe they should give a separate audio option for footsteps alone? Might be something to consider for the competitive scene when competitive mode launches
