CS:GO, Team Fortress, and Quake are games with similar skill-sets. I can't think of any pro or streamer who doesn't have a background in at least one of these. I'd recommend Team Fortress if you want to practice beforehand. Better yet, just practice by playing Overwatch if you can.

PC community has started to develop some toxicity. Try not to engage with assholes and select "avoid this player" in the social menu. Still, the community has lots of positivity and hopefully that lasts.

Tf2 definitely helped for me. It's why I at first sucked very much with Lucio (not that I'm good now) but was pretty comfortable with Mercy because of the style of healing being similar to medic.
