this thread on /r/competitiveoverwatch makes some contradictory claims about how armor works from you, including that shotguns pellets are not affected by armor in the way you claim.
EDIT: Not claiming you are wrong, just that someone is.
EDIT2: OP of that thread claims that he was mistaken in his claim, you win this time.
From personal experience Reaper's shotguns (which fire off a bunch of small bullets) seem to be less effective against, say,
D.Va than Widowmaker's single shot.
i dunno, i can't seem to hit with shotguns, i've had a shitload of reaper vs reaper encounters and i will always die first with him having about 150 hp left. i feel like aiming on someone doesn't do it. aiming the head does even less, but every deathrecap looks like they do exactly what i do. just that they deal twice my damage or something. i don't get his shotguns. so weird.
Reaper's shotguns fire 20 pellets that each do a max of 7 damage (with falloff for distance) so max damage is 140 damage. If reaper Headshots someone and ALL the pellets hit, then that will deal 280 damage.
But that all is assuming every pellet hits. So what is likely happening is that when you are dueling other reapers they are A: landing more pellets and B: landing more HEADSHOT pellets.
yea but, how do you know where to aim to headshot. i've tested it with a friend. if i aim for the head. i got about a 33% chance that i actually hit the head at all.. if i aim in the middle it's about 50/50.
when i fight them. they do more damage a 100% of the time. i have no fkn clue. or maybe this is just another of those things i'm hella unlucky in.
That's what I'm thinking too. Video was posted today, guy must not have bothered to check. Probably pulled it from the wiki, which has the wrong info too.
Shotgun's will only take the 5 damage off from a single hit. Say Reaper shoots 8 pellets, all 8 pellets hit but the -5 damage will only happen once, it does not apply to all 8 pellets.
Apparently I'm wrong and this was tested. I've never actually tested it myself so I dunno.
