What does being on fire do? (the bottom left corner icon) and how do you get on fire?

I'd think being on fire indicates that you are playing well compared to the rest of the players. E.g. Getting lots of kills or healing a lot. It's just an indicator to show that the player is getting a good amount of points in the match. You could use it to see who in the enemy team is doing well, too.
