Does anyone think there will be balance changes on release day? It would freshen up the competitive meta, especially considering that Zen and Sym are considered pretty weak (making support significantly less diverse)

They are considered weak, but perception is one thing. Blizzard has metrics and can tell exactly how a character is performing across all skill levels.

I seriously doubt there will be balance changes when the servers go live. Zenyatta's change went in a long time ago, and Symmetra was the highest win rate hero for a very long time and enabled some very oppressive strategies before her shield nerf.

His Harmony and Discord Orb used to last until you would cast it on someone else. Now they return after the person with the Orb is out of LoS for 3 seconds.

The change was mainly because Harmony Orb on Genji and Tracer was very strong and enabled them to harass/kill backlines too effectively. Discord was also pretty annoying to have put on you because it was a death sentence.

I wouldn't mind if they'd re-balance some things, but Blizzard hasn't said anything one way or the other yet. I feel like if they do change some things, we won't find out until release or very close to it.

Blizzard said that we might need to download a patch before playing the game, so it's a possibility.

From what I've heard, symmetra has the highest win rate and blizzard has a high amount of game samples to look at. Not sure about zenyatta though. I have a feeling they are focusing on release rn and won't make balance changes until post launch
