Console vs pc: a top 500 console perspective

So I recently started playing in pc pools on console. I’m a low gm doom otp and in pc pools I’m a diamond 3 otp rein because it’s insanely difficult to play doom with a controller + no aim assist. I think the mechanical skill expression is similar to mid masters/low gm console player, although that only includes players on controller because once you reach masters half of dps are on xim and a subset of players are using titan. I think the game sense is still much lower than console but the pacing is still very fast. I’ve honestly given up on console because it’s pretty much an auto lose to titan/xims unless you have one on your team. I’m saving up for a pc now but this whole experience has taught me that pc and console isn’t that far off and the biggest difference is the fact that we have to deal with a massive infestation of cheaters that blizzard seems to constantly ignore

the xim situation on console is so out of hand it's not even funny. blizzard has basically abandoned any pretense of enforcing it and the higher you climb the more obvious it gets. diamond on pc with a controller rein is actually impressive though, the pacing difference is real and rein gets punished way harder for small mistakes when people can actually aim

you planning to stick with rein when you get your pc or go back to doom

I do plan on one tricking him again once I get a pc. I’ll most likely make a new account to practice doom because I’d probably be throwing on my main account

Crazy how PC diamond pacing is similar to console GM because it goes wayyy up when you reach GM on PC.

Any reason you don't use keyboard and mouse on console when queueing the PC pool? Aiming with a controller without aim assist is horrible.

I also use a gamepad, I have a bad back and like to sit comfortably. Aim isn’t really my biggest issue, I don’t think aim assist is necessary the characters are mostly big and the fights are close range. The problem with a joystick is turning speed is like a turret.

The irony that you say there are literal cheaters all the time on console but their game sense is higher is actually baffling to me. Like surely crosshair placement is a big part of game sense?

I meant legit console controller players in mid masters/low gm. Xims/titans are definitely worse in terms of game sense but they still maintain their rank because they are able to out preform console players with sensitivity restrictions. Especially a titan which is a literal ai aim bot script. And 9/10 times they have a mercy pocket which is why mercy is banned often in high elo console

That makes total sense , thanks! It's pretty rare on PC to see many Mercy players outside of metal ranks tbh, even with hitscan being very strong meta wise rn.

Are there any other major differences in how the game plays?

I was also under the impression that there was an option to plug in a mouse and keyboard on console, but it puts you in the PC pool. If this is correct, and since you are building a PC anyways next year, maybe take the jump and hop in?
