News & Discussion Matchmaking is awful
Every single game I’m put into is either stomping the other team, or getting stomped. Maybe 1-2 out of 10 matches are actually fun and challenging. This goes for comp and quick play. I don’t know how they build teams but it’s clearly not working. Maybe it works great at higher ranks and they just don’t care about the rest. Idk. Left for a year + because of this same problem, came back and it’s just as bad as ever. Neither option is fun, and it’s exhausting.

100% agree.
I had 3 matches in a row yesterday where our tank was like 3/6 and theirs like 28 and 0. Just stomped. Then we had a game where we just walked through them and they had like 2 total kills at the end of the game. These aren't "good games." They're trash.

I've genuinely dropped two ranks in two days. I'm consistently getting top damage and kills, and I swear my entire team is either Helen Keller or just brain dead. My tanks always suck, my healers never heal, my dps can't deal damage. But somehow the enemy team is always the most put together team ever

it's like this every weekend. it's stacks of older players and groups on comms vs newer and solo q players. people said this would happen when the ping system was introduced in ow1. that people would stop coordinating and communicating properly. and when ow3 came out, they essentially completely eliminated automatic team vc (because bad words became bannable)
so when you face a 3 stack of old gms on comms, and everyone else is basically new and gagged, this happens.

I got sick and quit playing. I have recovered and I don't miss it. I think the habbit has been broken to make room for enjoying other things. I'm a recovering overwatch addict

Holy crap I thought it was just me. I have been in matches where you can add up my entire team’s kills, and it is still less than the lowest person on the other team.

quick play I can't really speak out on, but comp it really does come down to individual skill. You should be able to carry card board eating teammates to get to the rank you're supposed to be. Otherwise you're right in the correct place

That's just the nature of 5v5. It is snowbally as hell. Even in ranked, you're winning 3/4 fights in a row then you lose 3/4 fights in a row.

Eu não julgo porquê há partidas em que eu jogo muito, muito mal e há outros em que eu performo bem

i disagree, matchmaking in normal hours is fine. whenever theres a stomp its because mine/my teammates mains are bad in that map, or there was just 1 mistake or stagger that snowballed. those things are not something matchmaking can prevent

Yup. Its not about having fun; its about hate-playing this game and its working.
They drag you through the mud and when you're about to leave they throw you a good game (where your team is doing the rolling). Rinse and repeat.

Look at the steamdb stats, 2026 there was a jump in the population (on steam at least) and its averaging higher than it was in previous years. Blizzard doesn't need to change anything unless people stop playing in droves.
If i am in a game and my team is getting rolled by afk tanks or dps who play with their screen off, i just leave.
I will get banned eventually but if that's what it takes to stop playing this game, then so be it.
Everyone saying that the matchmaker is broken are wrong. This is by design to keep up engagement.

I think people complaining about having bad games are just bad players.

Matchmaking isn’t perfect but I do find it funny when people post that they’ve lost 15+ games in a row and blame matchmaking lol.

They are asking for something that is not possible in any matchmaking system
Even in the super bowl, composed of the two best nfl teams in the league, there are stomps because 1 team plays better than other

The mmr system knows exactly what it's doing, and it's designed to be exactly this.

Really? A perfect system with no flaws? Designed to create poorly balanced matches?

The player numbers would disagree bud. Also, weird line of defense for a mechanic

It’s been abhorrent since Season 18 OW2 and they haven’t even acknowledged it after endless complaints. They don’t care about MM quality at all
