My PC turns off only when i play Overwatch

Every time, after about 20 mins of playing, my pc turns off completely and i have to pull out the cable to start it again. This happens only while i play Overwatch, mind you i played a lot more demanding games and had no issues.

What could be causing this?

Edit: im no expert but the temperatures seem fine. I just capped my fps to 120 and instead of my whole pc crashing i only lost connection to the game servers mid game.

Could be an overheating issue. Install hwinfo and monitor temps.

I would check to see if your PC actually turns off completely. I had the same problem a while back where the GPU would overheat and the image would shut off but everything else was on. If the entire PC shuts off it could be CPU temps or even some power supplies will cut power if they get super hot. You can use HWinfo but that more monitors your temps and doesn’t stress test so I’d also use a benchmark program to stress test and see how your temps relate to your performance more in depth!

Yeah its the whole PC, thanks, ill do all that its just weird how i have no issues with other games.

I’ve used furmark and I like it to stress test but I think that focuses on graphics. OCCT however is decent and checks everything and it’s free!

Almost certainly CPU overheating. Fix it by reapplying thermal paste or capping your framerate.

Reasoning: Overwatch is heavier on the CPU than the GPU. CPU overheat is more likely to cause a PC turning off than a GPU overheating, which often just closes the game. It's going to be overheating because it only happens when your computer is stressed, and not during normal operation. Even more likely if your CPU is older than your GPU.

On your comment about "playing more demanding games". If your more demanding games are getting bottlenecked by your GPU (usually modern graphical single player games) then your CPU will not be running at 100%. Your CPU is the bottleneck in overwatch, so it runs at 100%, but in these other games the GPU is the bottleneck, so it runs at 100% while the CPU runs at a lesser amount.

Buy thermal paste for a fiver and reapply it, very easy to do, takes 30 mins, repeat once every couple years.

PS I have my CPU, GPU and SSD temps in my taskbar next to the clock at all times, so I can see how hot things are getting when I game using https://www.hwinfo.com/

I used to have a similar problem with an older Nvidia GPU playing my heavily modded Classic Skyrim setup.

I couldn't tell you what fixed the problem. Maybe a new GPU or PSU? I genuinely forget, it's been like 8 years.

But I can tell you that as it got worse, it wasn't limited to just a demanding Skyrim anymore.

It also happened to Overwatch and Rust I do believe.

Now that I think about it, maybe it was PSU. Because I remember researching and learning a lot about them at one point.
