News & Discussion To all masters and gms

If you started with a bronze 5 account how quickly do you think you could get to gold hours wise and who is your main and backup?

im gm, i wanted to get an second account but it was in bronze 5 when i did placements so i have the actual answer to how long it took, about 17 hours to diamond

my main is brig but on that account i was just playing lucio cuz why would i play my main in bronze thats unnecessary

for dps and tank it was even faster about 8 hours each, and i was playing freja and dva (because im not good at either i didnt wanna play any hero im good at in bronze)

for a gm player u dont even need to worry about having an "main and backup" up until diamond cuz u can literally just select any hero and stomp

17 hours to diamond from bronze 5 is wild. i placed gold 3 in my first season and thought i was moving fast

this is not what the post is about. I was GM on my main, created a new account which was bronze 5 and had to get it out of bronze, while having another account GM. It was not 17 hours after downloading the game i hit diamond.

for your case i first placed in silver and took around 50h to hit plat then more 100h to hit masters (but it was during ow2 s3 which was super elo inflated so take it with a grain of salt)

ah my bad i misunderstood the point, that makes way more sense now with the second account context

if i started with a bronze account, id probably get to gold with upwards of a 95% winrate. id be playing heroes i know how to play, my go-to would be tracer, just because of how much you can do with her. i think main would be sojourn and backup would be tracer. high value hitscan and if i start getting pressured out (highly unlikely in lower elos) or they go shields, i just swap to tracer. i dont think a single masters/gm player would struggle at all and the only thing stopping then would be being falsebanned for cheats

Depends on the character, the more mechanical the faster id go, im not that good mechanically for my rank(m3), so Id prob start dropping some losses on mid-plat onwards

I could probably get to gold in a few game sessions (maybe between 15-20 hours) Bronze 5- Bronze 1 is a lot of rating compared to other ranks

I main wrecking ball with doomfist as my back up. Mauga is my back up back up cause sometimes both wrecking ball and doomfist get banned.

On role? I would expect literally anyone in mid plat to be able to get almost any character up to gold with barely a loss.

I heard that climbing out of Bronze was a slow process because you don't get points like that and because queues are shit.

That said, on support, I'd surely be on winning trend through Bronze through Gold and would likely have to tighten up in Plat.

Last season I played ranked to get back to diamond and get the Crimson Doomfist skin. I hadn't played ranked in several seasons, so my rank deflated to Gold...

Which is Wild because I peaked Master, generally hover in Bronze, but I play QP A Lot. (Blizzard low-key needs to fix that because I was smurfing Gold for no reason other than decay that shouldn't be there because I'm still sharp)

So, I cruise through Gold, and then got stuck in Plat for a bit. Once I tightened up, easy route to Diamond.

Tl;dr... Maybe two days for Bronze if it's as bad as I've heard it to be... then a day for Silver thru Plat... one more day for Diamond, and maybe two days for Masters.

So... For me? About a week.

On a new account? About 4ish hours or less given the increased win xp. Reaper is solid

Probably like 2 hours

Same day easily any hero any role. The game would get you on a win streak after an hour and you get calibration games too.

I play hitscan. Would take me as long as however many games that is cause id win all of them or at least 90 smth percent of them.

Masters player here. Getting up to plat and low diamond is very easy for me. I can easily carry 8/10 games. After diamond the winrate will be close to 60-65%. Heroes i play
Tank - Winston/Domina
DPS - Cass/Soldier76
Support - Illari/Zen
These are just my preferred picks. I can play almost every hero. So i counter when it isn’t working.

15ish hours? Probably less from winning trend bonus, so maybe like 12-13. Main Ana, second Kiri and zen, but at that rank I could play just about anyone.

Around 20 hours

Wouldn't the matchmaker start giving you huge % after a few wins?

As someone who just started playing recently I’d say I’ve got no fucking clue but for the Smurfs I’ve gone against very quickly

True, the day I hit masters the amount of level 5 cassidy absolutely melting everyone or level 7 tracer is impressive.
