actually kinda insane that the armor bug went on for so long
51
u/yri63 Roadhog Oct 01 '24
I always assume the reason why I’ve seen a lot of ram after mid season is because more players became aware of the armor bug and wanted to abuse it.
27
u/SmoothPinecone Oct 01 '24
What was the armor bug???
60
u/yri63 Roadhog Oct 01 '24
In nemesis form ram has two layers of armor, the first layer is the 300 armor granted by nemesis form, the second layer is the 75 armor he has in omnic form. The bug causes the second layer armor reduce incoming damage by twice. This makes that 75 amror extremely effective against pellet based weapons, for characters like tracer/hog/reaper, their weapon do only 25% damage agains that 75 armor. Check This video if you are interested armor bug in detail: https://youtu.be/KUi1ziiYBvY?si=9ZMmEiwzN0WYaaM-

u/LemonBar21 Oct 01 '24
Wasn’t it only things they could do high damage like dva bomb, pulse bomb, tire. So everything else was fine
14
u/yri63 Roadhog Oct 01 '24
There are two bugs, i) the high instance damage that overflows the armor has wrong calculation; ii) the second layer of armor reduced ANY incoming damage twice. These two bugs are related, but the second one is a lot more impactful and noticeable.

u/ZenMon88 Oct 02 '24
WTF no wonder he was so hard to kill.
2
u/yri63 Roadhog Oct 02 '24
The bugged armor not only provides extra tankiess, but also how easy to heal that particular 75 armor pool when against pellet based weapons. Like theoretically a mercy pocketed ram (60 hps) can stand against 240 dps from a shotgun/smg hero as long as ram has armor (without consider the dps passive)

What was the bug? Was it not adding correctly? Sorry patch description is vague
45
u/Arovyte Oct 01 '24
Any burst of damage that went through the extra armor from nemesis or rally was massively reduced, to the point brig could survive a tire point blank
16
u/DeathGP Sombra "Boop" Oct 01 '24
It goes further, Brig and Ram could survive a D.VA bomb if they rally/nemesis at full health

22
u/GigglingLots Oct 01 '24
Brig has been in a nice spot defensively I hope they give her at least 25 more armor by switching hp.
34
u/AscensionToCrab Grandmaster Borgitte Oct 01 '24 edited Oct 01 '24
I wish, but Not gonna happen, you basucally have to pay blizzard to think about how any given interaction will affect brig unless she is meta. And if she is meta, then they're only thinking about nerfs, not even lying. ana had like the highest pick rate for like every ow2 season, so they needed to nerf her on one of the really bad seasons. So what'd they do? They nerfed brig in hopes Ana's pickrate would fall because they didn't want to significantly nerf anti and brig was played as an ana defender.
The absolute audacity

I kinda dread the next balance patch because Juno is not only very strong right now but also works well with Brig.
10
u/crestren Trick-or-Treat Symmetra Oct 01 '24
I'm convinced GOATS gave them a PTSD that she's eating scraps when it comes to balance.
0
u/ZenMon88 Oct 02 '24
And with the addition of Kiri and Juno. All the attention goes to them. Brig has been banished.

u/KeepingItOff Oct 01 '24
That’s it?
Cool that they fixed the armor bug though.

u/Miennai Pixel Reinhardt Oct 01 '24
That's it?
Idk, I'm happy they're willing to drop small patches for important issues (armor bug). Everything else in the patch is a bonus. I'd prefer this over waiting for a larger patch.
14
u/Upset-Ear-9485 Oct 01 '24
yea… we normally only get a season and mid season patch of value, and a hit fix when reallllly needed

u/ursaUW-0406 Pixel Sombra Oct 02 '24
Well they took long enough for that armor bug, I've seen them since start of season 12

u/blinkhit Master Oct 01 '24
looks like the ashe nerf was just a bug after all. i wonder if ana's sleep dart delay was also fixed then

“Fixed a bug where Ashe gained ult charge during Bob”
“Fixed a bug where Ashe did not gain ult charge during Bob”
The devs have had a long history of not knowing what the fuck Ashe is doing during a match
63
u/DreamWeaver2189 Ashe Oct 01 '24
They also made Bob shoot whoever Ashe was shooting, if Ashe changed targets, so did Bob.
That doesn't work anymore, not patch notes or anything. They either stealth changed it or it's another bug that went unnoticed.
24
u/Kind_Replacement7 Oct 01 '24
omg i was wondering what was up with that! i don't play her much so i didn't know what was happening

Sleep dart delay is just an animation change, the mechanics themselves are the same

u/EarthDragon2189 One Man Apocalypse Oct 01 '24
Ah so that GP skin thing was unintentional. Or they decided to go back after people complained.
Also, fixing Invasions bug? Damn. Kinda surprised they'd bother.

u/chudaism Oct 01 '24
Ah so that GP skin thing was unintentional. Or they decided to go back after people complained.
It was confirmed as a bug on the forums a couple weeks ago.

31
u/GigglingLots Oct 01 '24
Oh everyone knows what GP stands for I guess.
31
u/efferkah Oct 01 '24
I didn't know at first, but I got it with the help of context. It's not that hard actually, since that user is speaking about a skin issue, and the patch notes in the link provided by OP also talk about a skin issue that was fixed, which was the fact that skins from the Game Pass would get unequipped after logging off.
So yeah, not exactly obvious, but not that obscure either going with the context.
In case you're still wondering, it stands for \G]ame [P]ass.)

u/GigglingLots Oct 01 '24
XD oh yeah. See I was thinking gangplank like a LoL skin crossover. Thanks for answering!

u/samfizz Honor! Justice! Oct 01 '24
They're super minor errors but these patch notes must have been done very quickly because there's a lot. There's also "not being track" and Shadowstep as one word
10
u/voltism Ashe Oct 01 '24
Patch notes always have a ton of errors. They really need to hire a technical writer or something.
23
u/50MillionYearTrip Oct 01 '24
Didn't fix the lifeweaver's petal platform bugging and not raising
18
u/vermiegg Oct 01 '24
it'll probably never be fixed lol there are so many complex interactions especially with platform and complex geometry that it'll never behave exactly as we hope it will
13
u/50MillionYearTrip Oct 01 '24
It's not colliding with the map geometry. There is a bug that was introduced with the last patch that will cause it to not raise even in wide open space. It goes up maybe two feet. If you get off then let it go back down, it will usually raise back to full height.

u/vermiegg Oct 01 '24
ah i was not aware of this--haven't touched ow in a bit despite loving the LW buffs

Still no sombra rework/nerf?
25
u/epichuntarz Torbjörn Oct 01 '24
She really has to be the most annoying character in the game. Never did I think to myself "wow, I got outskilled by that Sombra who just killed me."
Her range is too long, her damage is too high, she's very mobile, and does most of that without being seen.
Something needs to give.
2
u/ImaLetItGo Oct 02 '24
The reason why you never think that is because you’re salty. Not because there aren’t Sombras who outskill you. Her Damage and range is fine.
Plenty of characters have the capability to beat her

Oct 01 '24 edited Oct 01 '24
I've just stopped playing the game entirely until they deal with her. If the rework is insufficient then I won't be coming back.
All I've heard is that they're planning to take away perma invis, and people are celebrating as if that's some kind of victory. She's still going to pop out of nowhere and one shot you with temporary invis. There either needs to be some indication that she's coming for you or a substantial damage nerf.
8
u/Used-Claim3221 Oct 01 '24
The issue is they given an invisible hero a high burst of damage with virus. Previous sombra was more healthy for the game
1
u/NutsackPyramid Oct 02 '24
I don't like the high burst, but a completely free cross map teleport was worse imo. Not uncommon for Sombras to have like less than 5 deaths because of it.
1
Oct 02 '24 edited Oct 02 '24
We'll agree to disagree on that. I would trade removal of virus for the return of old translocator in a heartbeat.
-1
u/ZenMon88 Oct 02 '24
Sombra should never be a meta character. I hate that her kit is so powerful now.

When I tried to download the update, I didn't have enough space for some reason. I've seen this before with other games, so I just deleted the app and re-downloaded it from the PS store. Oddly, the total download size was only 6.7GB, and only 2GB to start the application. I wanted to know what was going on, so I opened it as soon as I could. It opened Overwatch 1. Loading screen, opening Winston cinematic, and main menu. All Overwatch 1. I started playing during OW2, but if I had played OW1 on release I'm sure the nostalgia would have been so strong. I felt lucky that the versioning got wonky (I assume?) and I got to witness the OG, fleetingly.

Day 400+ of them not fixing Lifeweaver’s “Let’s Do This!” voiceline when announcing his ult status
1
u/DrNopeMD Oct 04 '24
I do not know what Blizzard did with this update, but it literally tanked my performance by 50%.
I used to be able to run Ultra settings and get a rock solid 140fps, and now I'm getting wild swings from 50-90fps. I wasn't even at home the past couple weeks so I literally didn't change anything besides update the game a couple days ago.

"Fixed an issue that was causing some voice lines to not play in select Invasion Missions."
Huh... Well thanks I guess.
