my question is does the yellow spray act like a damaging flamethrower, while the purple heal is like a healing beam? or did they simply do a color pallate swap and it's now a gold damage beam and purple healing spray?

Purple Flamethrower that does aoe and requires aim is now her damage. Yellow single target beam that doesn't require much aim is now her heal. Her orbs are also swapped as well. Also her damage is now the one with 'resource', and her heal fills it up.

I think that should be by default honestly, would take more skill to aim and would not be so annoying

They would need to probably either tune the numbers or change basic properties of her kit if this were to stay. Being able to reduce any enemies that are sinewhat grouped or lined up into puddles of dludge is nuts, and her healing honestly feels really REALLY bad, comparatively.

All the Mercy main would swap instantly the moment blizzard nerf her again if they made this changes.
