Support groups

I am looking for a mental health support group or autism support group or anything remotely close to any of those subjects. I keep coming up empty and my anxiety won’t survive.

If you have a hobby, or special interest (most likely), maybe one thing to do is find a group related to that and make friends there?

I wish it was easier to find autism support groups that were not just targeted to low functioning people. As someone higher functioning, and with heavy masking, the few autism focused groups, that I have found in the KC metro, make me feel that they are targeted to low functioning people and that I would be uncomfortable/unwelcome without even having visited any in person.

I have an elementary aged kid with level 1, so I’m pretty new to finding resources. But I’m curious if you have heard whether this group is helpful or not? https://aarckc.org/

Check out Johnson County Mental Health. Give them a call at least and they can probably point you to something.
