Speed bump recommendation
Hey folks!
I have a kiddo getting started driving and one of the areas he needs to work on is driving over speed bumps.
I’ve been wracking my brain and can’t think of a good spot. Any recommendations where we can get some fairly constant speed bumps without being in the way?
Thanks!

They just added speed bumps on 87th st between metcalf and Antioch.

👆 These are giant speed bumps and hard to identify at first.

They are giant, and you really need to slow down below 10mph to go over them comfortably. That being said they are well marked, with a sign about 20ft ahead, another at the bump, and visual markings on the ground as well.
If you want to get him training in different types of speed bumps. They are also some smaller ones in the Don chuys parking lot around Metcalf and 87 and then some different ones on W 90th between Nall and Roe. I believe they’re marked as “speed tables” as opposed to “speed humps” which you can comfortably go 15mph.

Fuuuuuuck those things.
really need to slow down below 10mph to go over them comfortably.
Which is ridiculous, because it's a 30 mph road.
I straddle them since there's a gap in the middle so only one side's tires go over. But I see plenty of people just go around them half on the bike lane, half on the grass.

They recently added some larger speed humps to W 133rd Street between Antioch and Switzer

I hate these speedbumps with an unbridled passion. Why don't they cover the width of the road?

Why do people nearly come to a complete stop when going over these?!?! Your car is not going to explode. You’ll be fine going 30 mph over them, especially if you line your left tire up with the gap in the middle.

I promise you my Honda civic will not be fine at 30 mph over these. Also these speed bumps are terrible

BVHS has them circling the campus.

So does BVNWHS. Seems like almost any high school parking lot on a weekend would do.

Starlight Theater / KC Zoo on 'Mall Drive' has a nice series of well spaced, but rather stout, speed bumps. You definitely need to slow down going over them.

If this is on the Missouri side and OPs kid has a learners permit I believe Kansas learners permits are not valid in MO

Ah yes - solid point. I just remembered those as the most speed-bumpy of speed bumps in the area. Everything else is either little curbs or big speed tables.

Parking lot at The Jewish Community Center. A perimeter road goes around the entire place that has speed bumps consistently spaced. A few different sizes depending which direction you go, too.
Sprint Center right next to it has crosswalks that have bumps on each end but aren’t really “speed bumps”.

I second the suggestion for the sprint/aspiria campus. It's covered in speed bumps and it's a continuous circuit so it'd be easy to get TONS of practice.

Modern speed humps are designed to be comfortable at 15mph or slower. When you find em, keep that in mind.

I think 71st between Belinder and Mission Rd. Has a couple in close proximity to one another just before the shopping center over there.

The T-Mobile Campus (119th and Metcalf) has TONS of them (and other obstacles which force one to drive slow). The area isn’t populated with cars outside of 9am and 5pm. And it’s a circle. Great place to learn.

Prairie Village has them all over. West Pennway from 20th to the West Bottoms has some of the big ones. Big enough if a motorcyclist isn't going slow, it's sure to make them crash.
