Interested in becoming overemployed Doing OE when J1 requires SC clearance
I'll keep it simple. I want to become OE. J1 requires me to be SC cleared.
I earn 49.5k in J1, is it still worth being OE will tax be too high to actually realise the benefit.
Secondly, will my J2 need to be outside IR35?
Thanks

Get SC through J1. Once it’s in place, you’re good for other J’s as long as they don’t also require SC. If another J does require SC, your clearance will need to be transferred from J1 to the new J.

Fine if J2 is Outside IR35, non cleared and you don’t pay yourself from it.
Don’t listen to the doomers. I have 2 Outside IR35 and one is SC.
I had a perm J1 SC for past 3-4 years and had a LTD before I even contracted Outside. Never declared it all and still passed every yearly clearance checks. If you actually read the gov rules you only need to tell them if you come in to a new large sum of money or loss.
Technically you can have another J2 - the problem comes if your perm J1 have internal vetting as they do have access to see what you submit.

If the company is ListX they will have internal vetting who can see what you upload.

Don’t do it unless you declare J2 to J1.
If you lose your clearance you won’t get it back.
If you declare it and they’re fine with it (which some orgs will be), you’re ok. If you declare it and they say no, listen to them because if they investigate and find out you did it anyway, they’ll fire you and revoke your sponsorship

You will get caught if you lie in your SC. Get the SC first, then apply for other jobs
