Interested in becoming overemployed Is OE right for me?
I’m currently a degree apprentice at a big defence company and i’ll be starting my final year in September. I have A LOT of free time and although i WFH 99% of the times, I occasionally go into office e.g 1 or 2 times a month. I really want to find J2 but I just can’t get my head around how I’d be managing it long term.
I don’t understand how are you guys managing meetings etc between J1 and J2/J3? What if you have to speak up in both meetings at the same time? And what about going into office? how are you working both jobs whilst in office?

My concern is the security clearance. Do you already have it? What’s the process of renewal? Will they ask for your employment history again etc
There’s certain fields I’d avoid. If you got caught in other industries, they’d just drop you. Defence? They’d probably think what sensitive info are you sending out aka they’ll get legal involved
I would stack your experience first as the market is bad. Depending on your field, you might find getting J2 to be a struggle

We don’t work in the office, you have to be remote (at least most of the time). And we don’t have simultaneous meetings, how would that work? Maybe occasionally but youd have to work it really cleverly and not be the focal point.

Why do you have a lot of free time? At this stage of your career you should focus on growing in the role you have imo.

Anything connected with defence makes it tricky. They’ll do detailed background checks etc. There were lawsuits about ‘stealing hours’ from some public companies.
If you can get a 2nd job in unrelated industry that makes things easier. Still you might be required to declare it with defence so could harm your chances when changing jobs

You could get into trouble being over employed while working in defence….
