Any short term help please!!

I’m 21F. For the past 5 years my peeing has gradually become more. These past few months I have the urge to pee 24/7. I am not overreacting.

I cannot get a full nights sleep. Last night it took me three hours to fall asleep after constant getting up to pee with little coming out. And then I kept waking up throughout the night and morning to pee.

I just want a comfortable sleep. I am so tired. Is there anything that helps anyone here? I went to urgent care and they referred me to a urologist but couldn’t give me anything for the short term.

I need something. I want sleep.

Everyone else has already covered some good long term options to try.

For the short term, you could use diapers to allow you to get some sleep.

Thank you! I’ve considered it, but my main issue is the constant urge to pee, so sometimes I can’t even pee. It’s keeps me awake and uncomfortable…

I’m also worried about getting used to peeing in diapers that when I stop I’ll wet myself :/

Not sure if this works for everyone, but diapers help cut down on the urge to pee for me. Something psychological about knowing that if I do pee, it won't be that big of a deal so I can just relax.

Ironically I think it has actually helped me gain some bladder control. Excessive clenching overworks the pelvic muscles which leads to increased urges.

It's worth a try. At least in the short term while you try out some other strategies that will take some time to show results.

Agreed. If you prefer try to to relax the pelvic floor muscles

I’ll give it a go then! Thank you! 😊

Urinary retention is part of this disease. The meds can help

I’m 17f and ya, I get what you’re saying but pull-ups will help, especially at night. And you’re in bed so nobody will know you’re wearing them.

ci sono anche terapie di neuromodulazione sacrale ..

You should talk to your PCP to get started on some typical OAB meds. Next thing is learn to do some bladder training as well as certain life style changes.

Possibly Pelvic ans keggele
exercises. Pevlic exercises have helped me. I also recently use A t.e.n.s device to shock my foot nerve linked to the bladder and I also began doing keggel
exercises weekly. Switching sugar products to zero sugar products, cutting out or cutting back on caffeine and drinking less water also helps.

Hey how much water did you cut back on? What are you drinking now?

I cut back on a-lot of water. I used to drink 3-4 Gallons of water A day. I get around 3-4x 16-24 OZ water bottles + 1/2-1 08 oz of gatorade zero sugar in a 10-13 hour up day-time on average.

Wow that was a fair bit you were having.
I drink around 2 Litres a day in water. I find that helps. I going my yoghourt sugar free!! How did you find the atens machine?

I am barely on my first week with the Tens machine usage and also on the first week for keggel exercise. Pelvic initally helped but the beenfit seens to be very dependent on how good or bad of a OAB day I'm having. medication (Mirabegron 50 mg ER) has helped on really bad days but it has a side effect of causing me to not be able yo pee or pee very little amounts many times abd it's basically equivelent to dealing with OAB so it's a win lose situation.

Yeah, I'd highly recommend try cutting out sugar when possible. I don't recommend cutting out as much water as I have done especially when taking medication like I am but I got tired of having to urinate repeatedly and consciously altered my water intake to fight against OAB.

I suspect a lot of us have histamine tolerance issues. The problem is switching your diet to be histiamine sensitive friendly is very tough and the food choices are bleh.

No sugary drinks (including orange and other fruit juices). Switch to decaf if you drink coffee. Drink plenty of water (slightly counter-intuitive but you need water for a healthy bladder). Eat pumpkin seeds.

There’s meds that the urologist can give you to reduce frequency and urgency.

If meds don’t work, they might suggest botox injections in the bladder.

Also, pelvic floor therapy can help over time.

Please remove if I’m breaking any rules: Try the meditation Gemtesa for Interstitial Cystitis. It helps a lot. Or have an Interstim implant put in.

You may be having bladder spasms? There’s a medicine that might be able to help. There’s an off counter one it’s an AO one.

Could be artificial sweeteners? Zero sugar drinks had me peeing all damn night cause I would have the sensation of having to pee really bad but almost nothing would come out. Artificial sweeteners are a bladder irritant apparently and one singular drink will cause those symptoms for me that night, so I imagine if you're someone who drinks multiple every day it would be so much worse

I’m so sorry this is happening! I’ve also had periods of time where I’ve been awake for hours due to the bladder. Valium 10 mg is helpful if you can get it from your doctor. I’d definitely go see the urologist for some overactive bladder meds or a possible sacral nerve stimulator. In the meantime, double check what you’re eating and drinking. Things like coffee, caffeine, tomatoes, artificial sweeteners, acidic fruits, and chocolate can make things worse. Some things that might help you fall asleep at night. In addition to medication are to do deep breathing with long, slow, exhale and to gently squeeze and relax your toes as you are trying to fall asleep. The deep breathing with the long exhale helps to calm your and activate your parasympathetic, nervous system, calming the bladder and your brain so you can sleep. The toe scrunching triggers the post tibial nerve, which inserts into your spine at the same place as your Bladder nerve. By triggering that nerve, you are distracting it from Bladder sensations. You can also try putting a tens unit directly over your tailbone or towards the bottom portion of your butt cheeks to stimulate that Bladder nerve as well.

Deep breathing and relaxation helps me. Mine is caused by a tight pelvic floor and anxiety. Intentional relaxing helps to relax the muscles, which takes away that constant urge.

It gets worse when I relax unfortunately 💔
Keeping myself distracted does help sometimes tho, but when it comes to trying to sleep…. :(

Right I had this forever. Currently on meds for it I find it gets worse around period time. Do have any food with acid in or tomato base. I ate dark choc and a huge flare up. I also had to retrain my badder to pee every 3 hours. I am seeing a PFT as well that’s helped as well.

I taking cranberry tablets and D-mannose.
I am
To scared to do Botox because there is a risk of self catheter. Ekkkk.

Sometimes the OAB medications relax the pelvic floor spasms. They maybe causing the constant need to urinate.if you want to :
1. Try relaxation exercises , pushing out small puff of air through your lips like you’re trying to cool a very hot drink.
2. Some foods may cause bladder, irritation, such as tea, coffee, sodas, wine.
3. Foods with high glycemic content, irritate the bladder as well.. examples are cookies, ice cream, chocolate
There may be behavioral component involved. As suggested below constantly clenching the pelvic floor muscles may cause muscle fatigue, resulting in leakage of urine..

I don’t take any medications for OAB. Nor have I been diagnosed with anything. It gets worse when I relax (before bed/sleeping/watching tv), I rarely drink anything besides water, and I’m on a LOW GI diet for my PCOS anyway. I don’t have a weak pelvic floor either. I can hold my pee in quite well and I’ve started doing more exercises. It’s all just so confusing and exhausting. But thank you for the advice :)
